To the fine folks in North Carolina. Are you going to confront this? I sincerely hope so. Those of us with a political voice in Kansas are doing everything we can to stop our PC governor from doing the same thing here. Good luck to all of you!

Hey, if they think the terrorists will vote for higher taxes, the Dems will probably gerrymander districts for them.

"Given Californias reaction to this issue, Democratic Governor Mike Easley should be quaking in his political boots. However, most North Carolinians are unaware that their state is issuing licenses to illegal immigrants!"
California had and has a recall procedure, for times like this.
Does North Carolina? Governor? Legislature? DMV administration?
Heads roll, and laws/regulations can be CHANGED.

But as a libertarian I should oppose the requirement to give a Social Security number to get a driver's license should I not? I should support a state that allows another number to be used instead right?

Interesting article but...
the rules did change last week as part of the "Operation Stop Fraud" program. Under the new rules, license applicants will need two forms of ID and a document showing that they live in North Carolina.
Unacceptable forms of ID will include expired licenses, individual tax identification numbers and licenses and other identification cards issued by the Mexican government -- including the popular matricula consular, an identity card issued by the government through its consulates.
Approved identification will include valid licenses from other states or Canada, Social Security cards, valid immigration papers and state vehicle registration or title certificates.

The IRS recently sent letters to all 50 governors, asking them to instruct their motor vehicles agencies not to accept the ITINs. I am living in North Carolina, and the only hope I see is to get the Feds to freeze all federal money headed to NC for any purpose till the law is changed and the DMV complies.
If the Feds stopped the money I think that would take about 2 hours.

North Carolina - El Norte Carolina
With the Blue Ridge mountains to the west and the beaches of the Outer Banks to the east, North Carolina has suddenly become The Destination for new Latino immigrants. Since the last census, the Triangle (and Raleighs Wake County in particular) has experienced a nearly 500 percent increase in its Hispanic population of mostly Mexicans. It started with the economic boom of the 90s and huge demands for unskilled labor in the construction, poultry and meat-processing, and hospitality industries. Thats transforming what used to be a black-white duopoly into an increasingly diverse area. Of the Triangles 1,031,600 residents, about 5 percent are Hispanic. That sounds tiny, but the areas receiving 10,000 new arrivals annually.

Face the Facts.
We have had since 1980, 4 Republican Presidents, serving close to 16 years in the White House. Even now, during wartime, our Republican President not only refuse to secure our border but he campaigns against securing our border and unbelievebly encourage Illegals to come take all the jobs the Americanos "won't fill".
So lets not worry about our country being overrun. Neither the Republican or Democratic party want to stop it. In fact, they encourage it.
You want to talk about a wasted vote. There it is. If you want secured borders and controlled immigration, voting will not get you anything of the sort. It might get you tax cuts, a winning war on terror in the middle east, but it will not stop an invasion of our country. Why?
Why if this country can do all these great things will we not protect our borders, at least, in a time of war?
Please tell us why Mr. President.

FLYERS TELL WHITES TO GET OUT OF CALIFORNIA
February 16, 2000 (VCT) -- Flyers are appearing in the San Fernando Valley demanding that whites get out of AZTLAN. Glenn Spencer of American Patrol said the flyers came from a student in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Asked how he knew, he said: Easy, the flyer reads --- THIS IS ARE LAND ---and any fool knows that LAUSD students can't spell.

I got a reply to an email I sent to N. Carolina.
Check out the site.
You quoted some article:
>I always thought North Carolina was a conservative state. Sure, >we have some fairly large cities, and plenty of liberal >universities, but North Carolina is southern.
The truth is that Bush won this state's urban areas. Like it or not, the only - few - counties Algore won were dirt-poor black counties and the "college town" counties of Orange and Durham. Only the state-capital county (Wake) - full of bureaucrats - was an exception to this rule. Bush won this state's big-city counties - Mecklenburg, Guilford, Forsyth.
>State Senator (and Gubernatorial candidate) Fern Shubert, >informed me that North Carolina has issued nearly 400,000 >drivers licenses to illegal immigrants with no social security >number!
This was a major question of my shooting buddy - how many illegals got licensed before DMV just slammed the lid on it.
>She showed me an article in The New York Times, reporting >that, The D.M.V. in North Carolina, where illegal immigrants >from the states on the Eastern seaboard go to get their drivers >licenses,
DMV has effectively ended this as of a week ago. As of 2/2, matriculas and other Mexican IDs no longer will get you a license in this state. Nor will an ITIN. This change is due to DMV being embarrassed by my county's sheriff into it; he - repeatedly - busted dozens of illegals at DMV getting licenses.
Illegals - particularly the ones from other states illegally getting licenses here - are just not likely to be able to get a license in this state anymore.

As a prominent member of the Raleigh, NC press corps explained to Sen. Shubert regarding a related education issue, We will not cover it, because our readers are not intelligent enough to understand it. This attitude earned that journalist a high paying position in the Easley administration! Hundreds of thousands of illegals register to vote in North Carolina, ensuring that Easley and his Democratic cronies stay in power, while North Carolinas news outlets turn a colluding eye.Whooeee, them's fight'en words...........I'm putting my money on the grit and guts of conservative Tar Heels.

Let me make clear, there has been no substantive change in the law. These changes must be made by the state legislature. Thegovernor merely issue a statement saying in effect, it's done, don't bug me any more. Nothing has been done! I appreciate y'all's comments, but what I need is for you all to email your news outlets and politicians!
