Then Bush better see it doesn't make it to his desk. Last week, he finally took a stand against gay marriage. I think he's beginning to feel his base fading away.

His base is firm. The only fading is from fringe one-issue types holed up in their basements dreading the world who probably didn't support him to begin with. Those who are so foolish as to consider cutting off their noses to spit their faces rarely make a difference in anything.

So far, he's managed to p***o%% the fiscal conservatives, the limited-Gummint conservatives, the immigration-control conservatives, and the conservatives whose jobs have moved to India and China.

All that remains are the NRA types and the anti-abortion types.

Slim pickins...
