There are some obvious inaccuracies in the article (consider the source…) but overall, very well worth reading.

I used a "phony" address for registering several years ago and the Trib has sent me a grand total of 2 e-mails in more than 3 years. Both were about updates to the site.

I'm pretty sure by now they don't spam you or use the address for anything other than update info about their site. If they send me another one in the next year I may have to empty the mailbox. ;-)

I have a "special" e-mail account that I use for logging into sites that REQUIRE login. It's for real, but I only log into it once a month or so, just for kicks.

Surprisingly, I get NO spam from the Trib what-so-ever. They don't send me a darn thing. Of course, I only gave them they absolute minimum of info, and check or unchecked any boxes about "getting e-mail from our sponsors" and so forth.

Most companies realize that SPAM is not the way to go...

The most spam I get is from Dell, but that only came after I bought a couple of computers from them. They don't send e-mail out all that often though, and it hasn't been all that much of a bother.

I live in the Chicago community area with the city's largest concentration of Muslims. Not once since (or before) 9-11 have I seen what might be described as a sign of solidarity with the United States, much less any vocal attempt to denounce the use of Islam to advance terrorism. Believe me, these neighbors do not inspire confidence. Their loyalties lie elsewhere.

I think I have a pretty good idea where that "community area" is, and have walked those streets myself, and have been inside the Muslim owned & operated stores.

Those I talked to who live in that area have told me the same thing you have, that they are a people apart, and have no love for this country that they call home.

Now I know and have met Muslims who are not on the militant bandwagon, and are truly sorry for the current state of Islam, but they seem to be in the minority, just as the Tribune reports.
