And let's not forget that it was F-16's of the 147th Fighter Squadron, TXARNG...Was the 147th. Bush's unit? I spent two years in the California National Guard after six in the Army, so I wonder how many of the press with absolutely no military experience understand that one can transfer from one states National Guard unit to anothers, if there's room in a unit. Or, be put on tdy (temporary duty) to another unit or another state. The ANG controversy only shows the press's ignorance of things military.

No he was in the 136th. He flew F-102 and later F-106 interceptor aircraft from the former Ellington AFB (now Ellington Field a joint ANG/Nasa facility). Together the 136th and the 147th make up the 47th Fighter Wing, TXANG.
That's what boggles me. In between my prior and current hitch in the regular army...I spent three years in the Tx Army National Guard. In a nutshell it's a whole other world in the Guard when it comes to making drill dates etc.
