Are you worried that Russert might know something we don't? I guess that's possible. Does anyone think there are some other records out there that no one has discovered yet that might say Bush was AWOL. Speaking for myself, no, I'm not worried he knows something that has not been revealed before. I'm worried that he's twisting the state of the record per the dem talking points instead of reporting the straight facts. In other words: propaganda to aid and abet the dems by hook or by crook.

Very interesting. I wish I would have saved an e-mail I received from Russert several years ago, in which he declared that despite his lifelong allegiance and association (read: employment) within the democrat party, he is impartial because he's a registered "Independent." LMAO!

Thanks for the link. I knew I'd run across that post before.
I call it some of the documentation that Russert hasn't bothered to review.
To: onyx
I'm not registered as anything but I don't think that makes me impartial. He has an odd thought process.

on the issues, of course not. do you realize how many voters make their decision on the issues? women voters will be judging to see how tight Edward's butt is.
To: ilovew
Yes, Russert is one piece of work. I remember thinking at the time, "this is his best defense/explanation?"
I mean, he was Mario Cuomo's sycophantic aide for years.

you are a republican woman (I assume, since you are here), so you are outside this demographic based on political motives. but if you are denying that independent women aren't attracted to a candidate because "he's cute", you are fooling yourself. al gore's greatest political moves in the 2000 election was a magazine cover with an enhanced "package" and a tongue kiss on his wife. he certainly didn't do that to get the votes of men.
To: tirednvirginia
No, I'm not worried about that, but I am worried that the media will recycle the Ds lies when in fact the records show that President Bush accumulated enough points to earn Honorable discharge. That is, he seemed to make up some missed drills later in the same fiscal year, which is allowed in the NG, but the media will continue to say that he missed drills, which technically may be true but is "cherry picking" the facts.
Source: George Magazine
Published: 10/15/00 Author: Peter Keating and Karthik Thyagarajan
"Two documents obtained by Georgemag.com indicate that Bush did make up the time he missed during the summer and autumn of 1972. One is an April 23, 1973 order for Bush to report to annual active duty training the following month; the other is an Air National Guard statement of days served by Bush that is torn and undated but contains entries that correspond to the first. Taken together, they appear to establish that Bush reported for duty on nine occasions between November 29, 1972-when he could have been in Alabama-and May 24, 1973. Bush still wasn't flying, but over this span, he did earn nine points of National Guard service from days of active duty and 32 from inactive duty. When added to the 15 so-called "gratuitous" points that every member of the Guard got per year, Bush accumulated 56 points, more than the 50 that he needed by the end of May 1973 to maintain his standing as a Guardsman. "

I guess if it's enough of a reason for him, it's supposed to be enough of a reason for us. Somebody needs to tell Timmy we don't quite trust him on that impartiality issue.

Al Gore was hardly an attractive candidate. And you are failing to explain why John Kerry seems to be the top choice among Democrats when his face looks like it is falling off. Definitely not an attractive man. Edwards is not the front runner. And whether I'm a Republican or not has absolutely nothing to do with it. I've been accused of supporting Bush because I have a crush on him. You are fooling yourself if you think anyone will win the support of females simply because he's "cute." I think John Edwards is cute but he's still a dumbass.

my post was not directed at you personally, I don't know why you are getting so defensive.
the polls on the female demographic regarding this topic are quite clear. Kerry has already been botoxed, watch him get pec implants next. and Edwards is the likely VP, and if that turns out to be true, a large part of the calculation about putting him on the ticket will have to do with the female demographic, as much as his appeal in the south.

It reflects more on Russert's "gotcha" mentality. When you're telling the truth, as the President is, the answers don't change. Today's interview reminded me of that cartoon where the president is in front of a big easel and he's holding a pointer. He's trying to explain why we should depose Saddam. There are several pages which have been torn off the pad on the easel strewn about. The president is saying, with a look of frustration on his face, to a bunch of blank-faced liberals, "Because he's evil."

**my post was not directed at you personally, I don't know why you are getting so defensive**
You don't know why I'm getting defensive? Because it's chauvinistic males like you who keep this country from being as equal as it should be. Let me spell this out for you: the vast majority of females do NOT base their voting decisions on who is the most attractive. We may think that a candidate is attractive but that is not what we base our decisions on, regardless of party affiliation.
