Whoa here, these are not my thoughts or my words, this is the statement of the lying liberals.

I was repeating what "little Johnny Edwards" says about the vote he made for a "war", those were his words about his vote. This is what the liberals are saying to win an election.

You stay safe and remember you are our "HEROS" not the want-a-be lying liberals who use you for their political gain.

I took a Labor Relations course at AU (Management Department, School of Business) years ago and my professor was a serious pro-union, liberal. We butted heads all quarter. He certainly did not fit the mold of the rest of the Business School staff. I was pleasantly surprised when he was turned down for tenure. If I'm not being too personal, what is your field at Auburn?

No, not surprised.

Here's one aspect: Bush governed TX for six years or so. So he's seen the situation up close from an executive perspective. That's why I have reservations about the President on this issue.

I read an article five or six years ago, wish I had saved it, about the effects of Mexican immigration on the fabric of life in Texas, the financial cost, the political battles, etc. There is a certain term (I can't remember it) that historically refers to the strip of Texas counties bordering Mexico. Dirt poor counties, almost all Mexican in population.

The thing is, according to the article, that strip of border counties is now (5 years ago) two and three counties deep into Texas.

Couple that scenario with the Texas "Robin Hood" programs whereby monies are extracted from affluent counties and sent to the poor southern counties for school and other infrastructure needs and, well, what is Bush thinking on this issue? He has surely seen this expansion of a blighted region resulting from an unchecked flow of immigrants, yet, if we are to believe his words, is in favor of greasing the skids for even a higher level of immigration.

I call it the willful importation of poverty and can't see any way to look at it as anything else. Though I have tried for I truly like the President except for this issue and the excessive spending.

WOW, got to be very careful on here never know who is reading.

Yes, indeed I was quoting Edwards and how these lying liberals knew very well when they voted that "yes" vote they planned to hedge that vote this year. Bush lied.

Actually it frightens me that anyone seeking the office of President of the UNITED STATES would think that to be a "good citizen" of the world we should go groveling and @ss kissing to foreign countries and governing bodies who do NOT have our best interest at heart.

John F'n Kerry would also make the War on Terror a "legal and judicial" matter again. This is also known as the Clinton Doctorine of fighting terrorism. And we ALL know what that got us.

"You need one of those plastic pistols that fires suction cup darts. You can get them cheap at the dollar store.
Go ahead, buy a couple...you'll need them before the election is over. ;-)"

Wonderful idea! I suffer from the same compulsion as onyx. Putting it on my shopping list now.

Just because they comprise 1/3 of the governmental triangle and can write law and review how the executive branch is carrying out its execution of that law!

Thank you, Jim. That's what I was attempting to say but you stated it quite succinctly. Those who complain that President Bush isn't "doing something about illegal immigration" want him to become some sort of benevolent dictator when it comes to their gripe, but he is supposed to keep his nose out of their business on everything else.

President Bush knows the protocols of our republican government with its three branches for checks and balances.

citizen: Compare your views about how illegal immigration should be handled with the views of how other groups wish issues to be handled---the death penalty, for instance. There are a great number of people who would like to see states give up their right to have a say in the matter. Do a Google search and see the outcry for some sort of "Presidential intervention" on that matter. You may also want to do a search on what President Bush has to contend with from the Democrat side of the aisle. For example, Congresswoman Maxine Waters. Here's a quote from her to get you started:

If these persons were truly involved in terrorism, why weren't they incarcerated? Why weren't they held in a maximum security prison in order to prevent them from engaging in further terrorist activity? The Attorney General offered no reasonable answers to these questions. The fact is, Ashcroft and the Justice Department deported these people not for terrorist acts, but for simple immigration violations. It seems that the Attorney General's implementation of the Patriot Act to wage war on terrorism resulted in a war on immigrants.

That's all I have to say for now. I'm tired and need to take a break. :o)

Hey dag, do you ever give this petty criticism thing a rest? Weren't you like this on the SOTU thread too?

No. The President can read a speech satisfactorily, as I have also seen once live and up close.

Speaking of "standards",according to Jim Robinson's recent "standards" of who should be allowed to post here, you should have been gone by now! If I were you, I would be grateful for the privilege and watch what I say.

We can't afford to lose this election at this critical point in our progress. It takes time for a conservative agenda to take effect in a government like ours that has been assaulted by liberals for over 70 rears.

Sadly, you "Instant Gratification" types are too impatient to understand what that means. You are therefore considered dangerous because you damage the overall credibility of our group with your ignorant rants.

People viewing this sight for the first time who are independents, get the impression that Republicans are unstable and may chose the Democrat side. This is why we need to all unite in our efforts for the Republican ticket.

Using this site to campaign for your Third Party cause is prohibited as well as stupid.

Bring on Dan Rather!

Ack, I just had a flashback to Rather interviewing the Clintons and ending it with some flattery like "If we could be as successful as you have been..." or some such nonsense.

Gads.

As people were watching the interview and directly after the interview most posts were quite positive about the President's performance on MTP.

I thought he did great and stand by that opinion.

It seems as though once the spinners appeared many stared questioning their own opinions.

President Bush handled Russert wonderfully. Russert came off mean and biased. The President wasn't stammering because of being tripped up he was astonished that he continued to get the same question for 30 minutes. He kept trying to find new words to say the same thing. Russert was relentless in trying to gett the President to contridict himself.

Bush wins. Russert loses.

The thing is, according to the article, that strip of border counties is now (5 years ago) two and three counties deep into Texas.

And you can see that expanding belt of counties quite clearly on the 2000 county-by-county election map - they're the ones colored Al Gore Democrat blue.

We're not just importing poverty, we're importing permanent minority for conservatives.

I would have liked Mr. Tim Russert to ask President Bush a question about illegal immigration today during their one hour televised interview.

What do you think?

I believe the message is: We support our president.

I am supporting him, as a spouse supports her wayward husband by showing him the error of his ways.

Many here are quick to chuck one-liners such as "Go to the Lib boards" "Go and get Kerry elected".

Very few seem to actually want to discuss the issue. It's blind allegance or go the heck away, pal.

I REALLY enjoyed this article:

The Real Kerry
The New York Post ^ | 2/4/2004 | Howie Carr

ONE of the surest ways to get the phones ringing on any Massachusetts talk-radio show is to ask people to call in and tell their John Kerry stories. The phone lines are soon filled, and most of the stories have a common theme: our junior senator pulling rank on one of his constituents, breaking in line, demanding to pay less (or nothing) or ducking out before the bill arrives.

The tales often have one other common thread. Most end with Sen. Kerry inquiring of the lesser mortal: "Do you know who I am?"

And now he's running for president as a populist. His first wife came from a Philadelphia Main Line family worth $300 million. His second wife is a pickle-and-ketchup heiress.

Kerry lives in a mansion on Beacon Hill on which he has borrowed $6 million to finance his campaign. A fire hydrant that prevented him and his wife from parking their SUV in front of their tony digs was removed by the city of Boston at his behest.

The Kerrys ski at a spa the widow Heinz owns in Aspen, and they summer on Nantucket in a sprawling seaside "cottage" on Hurlbert Avenue, which is so well-appointed that at a recent fund-raiser, they imported porta-toilets onto the front lawn so the donors wouldn't use the inside bathrooms. (They later claimed the decision was made on septic, not social, considerations).

It's a wonderful life these days for John Kerry. He sails Nantucket Sound in "the Scaramouche," a 42-foot Hinckley powerboat. Martha Stewart has a similar boat; the no-frills model reportedly starts at $695,000. Sen. Kerry bought it new, for cash.

Every Tuesday night, the local politicians here that Kerry elbowed out of his way on his march to the top watch, fascinated, as he claims victory in more primaries and denounces the special interests, the "millionaires" and "the overprivileged."

"His initials are JFK," longtime state Senate President William M. Bulger used to muse on St. Patrick's Day, "Just for Kerry. He's only Irish every sixth year." And now it turns out that he's not Irish at all.

But in the parochial world of Bay State politics, he was never really seen as Irish, even when he was claiming to be (although now, of course, he says that any references to his alleged Hibernian heritage were mistakenly put into the Congressional Record by an aide who apparently didn't know that on his paternal side he is, in fact, part-Jewish).

Kerry is, in fact, a Brahmin - his mother was a Forbes, from one of Massachusetts' oldest WASP families. The ancestor who wed Ralph Waldo Emerson's daughter was marrying down.

At the risk of engaging in ethnic stereotyping, Yankees have a reputation for, shall we say, frugality. And Kerry tosses around quarters like they were manhole covers. In 1993, for instance, living on a senator's salary of about $100,000, he managed to give a total of $135 to charity.

Yet that same year, he was somehow able to scrape together $8,600 for a brand-new, imported Italian motorcycle, a Ducati Paso 907 IE. He kept it for years, until he decided to run for president, at which time he traded it in for a Harley-Davidson like the one he rode onto "The Tonight Show" set a couple of months ago as Jay Leno applauded his fellow Bay Stater.

Of course, in 1993 he was between his first and second heiresses - a time he now calls "the wandering years," although an equally apt description might be "the freeloading years."

For some of the time, he was, for all practical purposes, homeless. His friends allowed him into a real-estate deal in which he flipped a condo for quick resale, netting a $21,000 profit on a cash investment of exactly nothing. For months he rode around in a new car supplied by a shady local Buick dealer. When the dealer's ties to a congressman who was later indicted for racketeering were exposed, Kerry quickly explained that the non-payment was a mere oversight, and wrote out a check.

In the Senate, his record of his constituent services has been lackluster, and most of his colleagues, despite their public support, are hard-pressed to list an accomplishment. Just last fall, a Boston TV reporter ambushed three congressmen with the question, name something John Kerry has accomplished in Congress. After a few nervous giggles, two could think of nothing, and a third mentioned a baseball field, and then misidentified Kerry as "Sen. Kennedy."

Many of his constituents see him in person only when he is cutting them in line - at an airport, a clam shack or the Registry of Motor Vehicles. One talk-show caller a few weeks back recalled standing behind a police barricade in 2002 as the Rolling Stones played the Orpheum Theater, a short limousine ride from Kerry's Louisburg Square mansion.

The caller, Jay, said he began heckling Kerry and his wife as they attempted to enter the theater. Finally, he said, the senator turned to him and asked him the eternal question.

"Do you know who I am?"

"Yeah," said Jay. "You're a gold-digger." John Kerry. First he looks at the purse.
