Changing gears, Carl Hiaasen writes some great novels if you like the crime/comedy/mystery genre with some occasional grossness thrown in.

Used to be a decent, but not great author, then he discovered Stephen King's gimmick of writting the same book over and over varying details and settings.
Then he started dragging his enviro-whacko crapola into it, too boot.

Thanks for the tip. You may enjoy Randy Wayne White too--his Doc Ford series with a Florida theme.May I add another? Laurence Shames. Sometimes his novels are as hard to find as hen's teeth, but they are witty, delightful (a la Hiaasen) and mostly take place in the Keys.
Randy Wayne White just keeps getting better and better, doesn't he?.
