U.S. Copter Crew Kills Iraqi Insurgent

Associated Press

TIKRIT, Iraq - A U.S. Army helicopter crew killd one insurgent and wounded another during a rocket attack against an Army base north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said Saturday.

The two pilots of the OH-58D "Kiowa Warrior" helicopter from the 4th Infantry division's, 10th Cavalry Regiment saw smoke trails from two rockets leading toward Logistical Support Area Anaconda near Balad, 65 miles north of Baghdad on Friday.

The crew saw an insurgent who tried to evade the helicopter as it approached. The pilots fired on the attacker, killing him, the military said in a statement.

A patrol sent to the site discovered the body of the first attacker and found another wounded insurgent hiding in the bushes, the statement added. The soldiers also found three rocket tubes with an 80mm rocket still inside one of them.

A timed detonation device made of a clock and batteries was attached to the rocket, the statement added.

Note to enemy. Never fire rockets on windless nights when the trail may be followed back to source orgin.

It like peeing in the wind.

If there is a downloadable video... please email me, so that I can put it on my website.

I have the video of the Apache taking out the three terrorists. Another great one is the AC-130 gunship wreaking havoc in Afghanistan. They are a few of 200+ videos/audio clips on my site. It's all free (no popups, no ads, nothing... unless you want to donate for my $170/month dedicated hosting bill :) )

2 more fanatics out of the way...

Hey, here's an idea... why don't all the bad guys come on over at one time and save us the time... it'll be a fair fight, honest... you bring all your weapons and we bring ours.

You've got the short version of the apache video. A longer wmv version gives meaning to their well deserved death. (shown dropping weapon).

Thanks for the link. I wonder what the deal was with these guys? They were acting very nervously like they thought that they were being watched (did they hear the helicopters?). Anyway, the one guy runs the tube - a shoulder-launched missile? - over to the field then runs back to the pickup. The other guy heads over to the field, drops something, then heads back, too. Was this a hand off of weapons to the "farmer" who pulls up in the tractor a minute later?

BTW, the video on the link seems to repeat the same footage at least three, probably four, times. Was there a difference between the scenes?

Thanks for the longer version... i will be popping it on my site www.not5150.com soon.

It does loop 3-4 times, same footage. It does have, however, extra stuff at the beginning that the shorter version doesn't.

Sorry 'bout the looping stuff. I encoded it again - this time in WMV for WM8 without the pre/post panels. 6Megs. Much nicer now. =) Thanks for pointing that out. Don't know how I did that the first time.
