And I will add that if you folks were less viscious in your below the belt attacks on the honorable military service of guys like Kerry and McCain you would win more friends and influence more people.

Most of my ire is from seeing another Vietnam Vet attacked not so much for his politics but with false slurs against his military service. And I will wager that the worst offenders never wore a uniform

Your ignorance as to who has been actually flaunting his military service is astounding. Your precious JF Kerry has been the one to bring his military background to the forefront of his campaign not anyone on Free Republic so get your facts straight.

My father was a Vietnam vet and trust me, his opinion of Kerry and his wearing of his military background on his sleeve is that he could quite possibly be one of the largest assholes walking the face of planet earth!

The day all of this bites him in the ass carpio, you better be on here, because I can't wait to see your lame defense of it...

I appreciate Senator Kerry's service to the country. No question about it, he was a soldier who served, and served w/distinction. And I agree that the glib, smooth-palmed civilian is very hard on all the senses. But not to worry, no person of serious intellect pays him or her any mind. And if you served, thank you too.

However, no one I know is a one dimensional character, and unfortunately I think kerry's one part hero and one part snake. He practically called his brothers in arms baby killers and slayers of women in his post war rantings and ravings, and the worst part is that he probably did it for political opportunity, and not because he really believed it. That's very hard on the senses as well. He owes his brothers in arms an apology 'ad alta voce'!

But your absolutely right about both Kerry's and McCain's honorable military service. I admire both men in that regard, and I'm sure President Bush himself feels the same way. Say what you will about President Bush, but he's not a small-minded man nor one with a confined spirit. I venture the same opinion about McCain, but kerry to me seems very small, very confined at this point in his life. Maybe it's a campaign style. I don't know and only time will tell.

If he's elected, I'm certainly going to view him as my President, and not declare an immediate state of war against him the way so many democrats did against President Bush. And I will pray to God that he lead and protect the Country to the best of his ability.

What is honorable about Kerry's service? Or how he started hanging out with Jane Fonda when he got home.
