Taxes will not have to go up to address the debt, rather the current fiscal policy should maintain a positive growth rate with increased tax receipts / revenues to the Treasury. Taxes do not need to be raised; that's a socialist's answer.

Taxes do not need to be raised; that's a socialist's answer. The rapidity of expansion in federal debt is outstripping any possibility of our being able to make it up in higher revenue from an expanding economy. A good rate of economic growth is considered to be 4%. Federal spending has expanded 25% on Bush's watch. Eventually, either higher taxes or immense (and real) cuts in spending are inevitable. That or letting high inflation take place so that the debt can be paid off with cheaper dollars. I don't like any of these scenarios, so it would be infinitely preferable to balance the budget right bloody now. Not likely, unfortunately.

Are tax recipts/revenues higher or lower after Bushs' tax cuts? Does anybody know?
