Dissent, disagreement, etc is quite alright, so long as it is done intelligently, using good manners, and mutual consideration for others' opinions.

Ah. Jackpot!

I have considered other peoples' opinions for quite some time. That's why I wrote this. It's exactly the same as trying to explain Santorum's position on the Texas Sodomy law. I'm still trying to get an apology from O'Reilly for doing exactly what I've seen a lot of you guys do. You don't seem to understand that these programs are the means to an end of them, not a gifthorse for all time as the dems wanted them to be.

Amnesty is no amnesty. Medicare REFORM is REFORM and has been needed for decades. Spending is up. Taxes are down. The stockmarket is up. Unemployment is down. There are two sets of statistics for how many jobs have been created and/or lost. The dems always pick the farm stats because they do not reflect the true statistics for the entire country.
Please don't think that you are the only one who works very hard for conservative candidates, because you aren't. I just do a bit more research, and I am of the opinion that a lot of the details are either deliberately skewed when passed on to the public, or some people won't ever be satisfied until they can cry foul and it will really be foul.
The deficit will right itself if we stay the course Bush has mapped out. The Medicare Reform plan doesn't even begin for ten years. By then, if we can pull in our peacock struts and elect who is GOOD for this country, the coffers will be overflowing, at which time, MORE tax cuts are in fine order.

Sauropod, the example you gave of teaching retarded children algebra might well be true, but don't kid yourself into thinking that the Teachers' Unions really give a damb about those kids or many others.
Your wife might be very special. I know many teachers who truly are. But the powers that have prevailed in this country for so long have blown ill winds and chased many good teachers out of the profession. The majority are woefully lacking, and no insult to your wife or her students, but yes, there are TOO many who want to see this program fail and they overwhelmingly support the nanny state and would rather be Dr. Feelgoods than teachers.
