if there ever was poetic justice for these enviro-wackos, we'd have one protected species (wolf) attacking and living off the meat of another protected species (spotted owl). Boy, what a dliemma they'd have, eh?

Yup, Pyrenees are good looking dogs, and great pets with kids. You're right, though, still no match for a pack of wolves...would give a brave warning and valiant effort, though.

I think Wolves and Grizzlies should be "re-introduced" to Central Park in NYC. ;-)

The natural move would be to trap wolves which have been introduced into Montana or Wyoming and drive them to NY City. As I've heard it, that would be a VERY bad move. The wolves apparently have radio transmitters embedded under their skins and the move would be noticed.

The legal penalties for harming one of these left-wing-protected monsters are generally more severe than for killing people, on average at least. That's one of the little tell-tale signs of an out-of-control government in operation.

Simple solution - Just introduce wolves back into Washington DC, and make it illegal to kill them there or trap them or contain them.

It seems to me that the extreme far right wants to *control* federal lands

Are you referring to the NRA as extreme far right? If you do, you agree with Teddy Kennedy, and most of the democrat party.

"WAIT, I've got it, Sunsong is a WEREWOLF!"

LOL

About wolf meat, though, probably would do in a pinch, eh?

Never had dog meat, what's it taste like?

I once sent a dog via aircargo to a friend in the Philippines. The cargo agent told me to make sure the friend is at the airport upon arrival, or he may never see the dog again. He was there on arrival, and "rescued" the dog, a big healthy lab (lot's of meat).

No, I am referring to people like posters on this thead -- fringe group types who think that laws don't apply to them and think that they are "entitled" to kill anything they want. I am a member of the NRA, Delphinium. Are you?

BTW, I noticed that the NRA article said that the wolves are re-introduced. They did not call them a foreign species like you have claimed. And I did not see where the article says that wolves kill for sport, as you have claimed. Nor did I see anywhere in the article anything close to your claim that wolves kill anything in sight. Nor do I see where the article says that it's us or them as the extremist groups claim.

I think it is sad to see the posters on this thread talk about breaking the law and about poisoning wolves, a truly barbaric thing to do. I think it's sad to see people show that character and integrity really mean nothing to them. They are going to whatever they want, regardless of the law, regardless of ethics, regardless of what is humane. I find that really sad.

I heard about a couple of wolves that were killed and thrown onto a freight train headed east.

My wife's grandfather was a gold prospector in Alaska at the turn of the century, last one not this one. He wrote a very interesting book about his adventures. Seems they use to have dog tail soup on occasion when they got trapped way out somewhere. You didn't kill the dogs because they had to pull the sled but a lot of dogs lost their tails.

They are good dogs, very protective of live stock, but 1 or 2 could not defend against a wolf pack, they'd die trying. Got to have at least 4 or more to give the dogs a fighting chance.

I'm thinking seriously of killing the local coyotes and feeding them to the cats. That should be fun.

Got those nasty coyotes up here at Lake Tahoe...getting real bold. A pack was stalking my neighbor as she strolled through a golf course on an early evening. Turn about would be fair play for the cats, though, as I have heard many a cat screach when attacked by a pack of coyotes. Tough to imagine how much meaner wolves can be.

Yup, it was your comment about someone being a werewolf.

Guess the Moderator has low tolerance this evening, but another thread going on right now about politics is getting pretty bad with no censoring (insinuating F-word and the likes).

It looks like the Fish and Game folks classify the reintroduced wolves as "the rocky Mountain wolf":

Rocky Mountain Wolf

The Rocky Mountain wolf is the same as the Alaskan and Canadian wolf and not a "foreign species" at all.

Re: Post 63

WE have plenty of Wolves here in Minnesota that can be transplanted into Central Park,And the vast majority of them are not carrying any transmitters.

Sounds like you didn't bother to read the original article; I'd suggest you do before embarassing yourself any further with stupid commentary.
