Bill Mahr Show, Friday Night.
HBO Cable TV | 02/07/04 | Tacis

I am deeply embarrassed and apologize for it and want to put it behind me and move on, but, last night, I watched part of the new Bill Mahr show.

The guests were Andrew Sullivan, Carol MOsley-Braun and one of those SNL guys who was funny but has made a bunch of unfunny movies. All three were interesting. Moseley-Braun is charming and witty.

This discussion that caught me was a general discussion of Kerry as being the leading recipient of 100 Senators of money from special interests. They all agreed that Kerry was a kept guy.

Then, Mahr said, "And the worst is that Kerry is the lap dog of the teachers' unions. That's why education is so bad in this country. My sister is a teacher." There was discussion about the teachers' unions being the most powerful special interest group in the country and Kerry doing what they told him to do. All true, but extraordinary hearing on Mahr, from Mahr. The subject changed to deviant marriage ("gay" is a recruiting word and should not be used except by those endorsing the perversion). Sullivan (who is one) and the SNL got into a silly discusion and I moved on.

TOPICS: Constitution/Conservatism; Government; News/Current Events; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: mahr; teachers; unions
The show, as I understand it, is repeated during the week. The comments about Kerry and the evil teachers unions make it worth stomaching Mahr for a while and checking it out.

Well, don't get excited. It's okay to be kept by unions. It is not okay to be kept by big oil. And you'll hear more about that in the months ahead.

I agree completely -- the word "queer" is OK for Queer Nation, and it's good enough for me.

I can't stomach Maher. Especially after last week's love fest with everyone's favorite endomorph, Michael Moore.

He lets any Bush basher rant unfettered and constantly tries to cheapen Bush to make Clinton look better.

On top of that, he has a really hot girlfriend.

To me, the funniest part, albeit unintentionally, was the interview with the Michigan female governor. Apparently, she had never seen his show, and wasn't quite sure who Mahr was.

She seemed, at least outwardly, to be shocked at the language, and made a statement about how she was going to be talking to whichever assistant booked her on this show.

Of course, it could be as phony as the wardrobe malfunction excuse.
