Possible new U.S. Mideast peace mission - report

WASHINGTON, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Key Bush administration officials are expected to visit Israel this month to discuss Israeli Prime Minister's plan to "disengage" from the Palestinians, The Washington Post reported on Saturday.

The trip would lay the groundwork for a trip to Washington by Sharon either later in February or in March, the newspaper said.

The American delegation may include deputy National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley and the National Security Council's senior director Elliott Abrams as well as Assistant Secretary of State William Burns, the newspaper said, quoting U.S. and Israeli officials.

Administration officials were not immediately available to comment on the report.

Israel has sought to reassure the United States that its proposal to dismantle settlements in the Gaza Strip would not undercut the U.S.-backed plan for peace with the Palestinians.

Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, on a one-day trip to Washington on Thursday, said the plan, which calls for a referendum on the dismantling, would be ready around mid-year. He would not predict when the withdrawal from the sliver of occupied area on the Mediterranean would take place.

The United States, Israel's most important ally, has cautiously welcomed Sharon's surprise pledge last month to withdraw most Jewish settlements from the predominantly Palestinian area.

But the concession also raised concerns that one-sided moves could sink the stalled U.S. "road map" to peace that is based on reciprocal steps before establishing a Palestinian state next year.

The "road map" is a piece of crap anyway. The Bush admininstration should welcome an excuse to get out of it.

I wonder if removing Gaza settlements will molify the Pali's or will it simple encourage more homicide bombers.

It looks as if Israel will have to seal itself off from it's neighbors, if it ever wants to have a semblence of peace.

I don't need to read it to know that it will be a waste of time.

What will come faster, the Jews moving to the Getto's on their own, or surrendering their capitol city due to the urging of the United States. I don't know why the New World Order has it in for the Jews so bad, but it seems to me gaining another Terrorist Arab State is no bargin.

I'm just curious if maybe they're setting someone up for something else... hmmm if we put a few bricks of C4, here or here, fly over later, send a signal, that could be a neat trick... Maybe just put some taps and bugs here and here, we could learn lots. Or if we can't have it, they can't have it. It's really hard to tell.

As Sun Tzu says in the "Art of War" "When you are strong, feign weekness", "Do not let the enemy know what you're true strengths and intentions are"
