Hey Norm Glad to back! And the rest of the fans!
I am rooting again for Jimm (Pearl Harbour) Spencer to become a Cinderella story...That would be great.
But my new ride for the season is Scott Riggs in the #10. I met him last year and he is one guy that is happy to be where he is and is a Class act. I saw him drive 3 time with a scanner and I have to say he is a very focused and skilled driver. Go Scott!

Just saw that Ernie Irvin is coaching Boris Said for the ShootOut. Ernie is a great guy and I was so sorry when he got hurt and had to retire. Ken Schrader took his ride...

This is gonna be a real interesting year with all the rule changes etc and then you add in all the young talent that are gonna give the veterans a real run for the money... It's gonna be one heckuva ride! Anyone can win it all.

Did you know you can Support Our Troops in many ways?
Check out http://www.defendamerica.mil/support_troops.html

Thousands of Americans are asking what they can do to show their support for servicemembers, especially those serving overseas in this time of war.
The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation is proud to present our carefully edited selection of merchandise reflecting the collections in the Marine Corps Museum,
sure to please Marines and their friends of all ages.
Established in 1979, the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Marine Corps history and tradition.
We directly support the historical programs of the Marine Corps in ways
that might not otherwise be available through government funds.

The Bud Shootout is open to drivers who either qualified for the pole the previous year while running with a Budweiser contigency sticker ("rain-outs" do not count, so no Matt Kenseth this year) or won a previous Bud Shootout. Here's how the field of 19 got in:
Boris Said - Won the pole at Sonoma (the Shootout is a 1-race deal; the 01 is normally driven by Joe Nemechek)
Rusty Wallace - Won the Bud Shootout in 1998
Terry Labonte - Won the pole at the spring Richmond race, also won the Shootout in 1985
Mark Martin - Won the Shootout in 1999
Dale Earnhardt Jr - Won last year's Shootout
Mike Skinner - Won the pole at the fall Richmond race in the MB2 #01 (the Shootout is a 1-race deal in the MBV #10, the car is normally driven by Scott Riggs; Skinner does have a 1-race deal to run a 4th Richard Childress entry in the Daytona 500)
Ryan (Rocket Man) Newman - Won poles at both Atlanta races, the spring Bristol race, both Lowe's races, the spring Dover race, the July Pocono race, the fall Darlington race, the fall New Hampshire race, Phoenix, and the fall Rockingham race
Bobby Labonte - Won poles at Las Vegas, Texas and both Michigan races
Jeremy Mayfield - Won the pole at the spring Talledega race
Tony Stewart - Won the pole at Chicago, also won the 2001 and 2002 Shootouts
Dave Blaney - Won the pole at the spring Rockingham race in the Jasper #77 (he has a limited deal in the Bill Davis #23, which includes the Daytona 500)
Jeff (Flash) Gordon - Won poles at both Martinsville races, Watkins Glen and the second Bristol race; also won the shootout in 1994 and 1997
Kevin Harvick - Won the pole at Indy
Elliot Sadler - Won the pole at the fall Talledega race
Jamie McMurray - Won the pole at Homestead
Jimmie Johnson - Won the pole at the June Pocono race and Kansas
Ken Schrader - Won the Shootout in 1989 and 1990
Dale Jarrett - Won the Shootout in 2000
Bill Elliot - Won the Shootout in 1987
There are 3 drivers that are eligible not running:
Geoffrey Bodine - Won the Shootout in 1992, doesn't have a ride
Steve Park - Won poles at California (in the DEI #1) and the Pepsi 400 (in the RCR #30), doesn't have a ride
Jeff Green - Won the pole at the Daytona 500 in the RCR #30; his current team (the Petty #43) does not participate in the Bud Shootout program, and he did not pick up a 1-race deal with anybody else

A FReeper Suite! Heck yeah!! Anybody here rich 8-?
Maybe we can get Jim to park his 50-foot Fleetwood RV in the middle of the infield and stand on top of it. :-]

I'm not rich, but if I hit the lottery, Daytona is on me.
I'm series (lol!)...maybe we can all pitch in somehow? It could be the NASCAR version of FReeps Ahoy!?

'Tisn't a pity that we're missing Bodine, and not much that we're missing Park :-)
Jeff Green, on the other hand, is a victim of circumstance. His team not running in the Bud Pole program is part of the promise Richard Petty made to his mother to not have his team be involved with alcohol when he got into NASCAR.

We're talking NASCAR here; and the last I heard, they weren't exactly PC anyway (invocations before every race).
