And that was in a game against Canada on Thursday before just 1,500 people.

A game Tuesday in neighboring Guadalajara will determine whether the U.S. under-23 soccer team heads to the Athens Games.

"This is what it is all about," coach Glenn Myernick said. "You are 90 minutes away from being in the Olympics."

"This is a family forum, please keep your warped fantasies to yourself."

You know very well that Laz did not mean anything sexual with the term "abuse".

Indeed, there is a "report abuse" button on this forum. It would be pretty strange indeed if a freeper had to endure physical "abuse" in order to click the button.

The hyperbolic and xenophobic remarks shown all because of a soccer game shows your racism shining through .......

Getting all that abuse you crave? ;^)

Perhaps if you go to another thread and say something really outrageous, then you'll get that abuse you so relentlessly seek. ;^)

IMHO, soccer is fun to play, but tedious to watch.

I know it's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but for my part, I love to watch the guys play. I find baseball slow and boring, basketball too intense, football is okay (I prefer college to pro because of the passion), hockey is exciting but I don't understand it very well yet (my 13 year old is coaching me about it). Soccer is my ultimate sport to watch. There are no breaks in the action, aside from the occasional serious injury. I love watching the build-up of the play. Scores are just an extra bonus. Watching the USMNT is even more fun than watching MLS, and watching the World Cup is the best of all!

"And you know that how? I wouldn't doubt that some English hooligan would say that, and I wouldn't stereotype the whole Engish people as being the same as that hooligan."

I said, for the sake of argument, let's assume that a crowd of English soccer fans would do that (boo, chant Osama). I'm not stereotyping anyone, I'm making a logical argument.

My belief that a crowd of English soccer fans would not boo Americans may be misplaced, however. I really have no idea. I just assumed the worst case scenario for the sake of argument.

What part of
ALL
do you not understand?

Sorry but I don't find a person working hard cleaning toilets as a criminal on par with a murderer or rapist as you seem to do.

"Any people who make light of the murder of thousands of Americans reveals their true (absence of) character."

You've perfectly captured it, in one sentence.

Seems like all the kids in the US grow up playing soccer year round now, but they leave it once they get in their teens.

I've got a nephew who's a really good athlete but he's small so he's chosen to concentrate on soccer as there's less competition there especially as the kids get close to college age. He could play baseball, but he has trouble hanging in against high inside heat and too small for football. He grew up in Southern Cal where I guess soccer is fairly big.

Here in KC they've got two professional teams. One is the Wizards and I can't remember the name of the other (but I think it's an indoor team). Lamar Hunt who owns the Chiefs really pushes soccer but his soccer gamble hasn't paid off like the AFL did. Maybe soccer implosion is closer to the truth.

Of course they aren't the same crimes. I am using what you said yourself against you. Don't use the word ALL. You should say something like:

"I focus my anger at criminals, if I disapprove of their crimes. Those who are criminals, whose crimes I deem not that bad, no anger only support."

That might help to clarify your position.

BTW, who are you voting for in the DEM primary, since I'm sure you are registered?

Are you talking bad about our amigo's? The helpless, deserving masses to our south?...er...in our midst?
The ones that attacked our flag and rioted at a soccer game in LA? The ones that celebrated 9-11 dancin in the streets, buying Ben Laden masks n t-shirts?

The one's stealing 14 billion out of the US economy this year? The one's we are sending 34 billion of our SS to? The ones invading our country over crowding our schools, bulling our kids, polluting our air, bankrupting our hospitials and state budgets? Those amigo's?

Uh Joe, this thread is about soccer fans and the English soccer hooligans are known around the world for their violent behavior at soccer matches.

I didn't say English people, but English soccer hooligans. I am not stereotyping the English as many on this thread are stereotyping the Mexicans.

What junior hockey team are you talking about, news to me. A peewee team from Boston was booed several years ago and Canadians across the country showered them with support and castigated the offending team from Quebec. Last I heard everyone kissed and made up and this team was invited back and recieved a rousing welcome. There is just no need to create problems between us based on isolated incidents, offhanded comments or hearsay. Our Chretien and some of his Liberal Ministers are testiment to that. Joe average Canuck is still paying the price for those fauxes pas.

""Sorry but I don't find a person working hard cleaning toilets as a criminal on par with a murderer or rapist as you seem to do."

Okay, I need to log off now, but I want to address this.

As a "white" person who has 1) cleaned toilets for money, and 2) lived in hispanic neighborhoods in certain large U.S. cities, and 3) visited Mexico many times and developed a fondness for their culture, I will say that:

Yes, it is true that Mexican immigrants do much of the low-paid work in the country. Yes, they endure hardship and sacrifice to come here.

However, it is also true that:

Many of the new immigrants have no desire to integrate and become Americans; indeed, there is a vocal political faction (La Raza) actively working against the interests of the U.S.

So my point is.... why bite the hand that feeds you?

When some Mexicans aggressively vocalize their hatred for the U.S., it makes me furious--particularly because you wanna know what? I'll bet my house that half of them will go directly from that soccer game to the nearest Western Union to pick up some $$ earned in the U.S.

I do have to log off, so I'm sorry in advance that I can't answer this post, if you do answer mine.

Actually, the Alamo was a defeat for the 187 Texans who died there but took 4,000 Mexicans with them. They should have yelled, "San Jacinto" where 800 of Sam Houston's troups beat the Mexican army to a bloody pulp and won Texas independence.
