I agree. For my basic DirecTV package, I'm FORCED to support MTV because I can't opt out of it. I did recently cancel all the alphabet networks--I don't watch them, but had them on a "just in case there's something I want to see" basis. No more. And I told DirecTV why, too. And complained about being forced to support MTV.

I know what you mean. But, no one's "forcing" you to do anything. If your convictions are strong enough, cancel your subscription and tell them why.

Or, you can keep supporting MTV with your money. But, don't lay the blame on DirecTV.

The only thing you can do, if you want cable, but not all the stations that go with it, is to manually de-select the channels you don't want. Most TVs have this option - mine does. I've programmed out the WB, UPN, BET, E!, Comedy Central, all the Spanish stations (I don't speak Spanish), the shopping channels, etc.
