And what about this war killing at least 8000 innocent civilians in Iraq. Not insugents, not Republican Guard nor even regular army.

http://www.iraqbodycount.net/

al-Qaeda kills 3000 innocent civilians = terrorism

U.S. kills 8000 innocent civilians = protecting freedom

I am very willing to die for my country.
I am not so willing to kill for it.

"I should have said Reagan supported the Mujahadeen (sp?)
against the Soviets in Afghanistan."

Yup, he did.

But the Mujahadeen and the Taliban ain't the same thing. The Taliban split from the Mujahadeen *after* the Soviets got kicked out of Afghanistan.

They, like the Bolsheveks were a small part of a large coalition.

After the split, the United States continued to suppor the Mujahadeen in the form of the Northern Alliance. The Mujahadeen leader most responsible for the victory against the Soviets *was* the head of the Northern Alliance, and was assassinated by al Qaeda three days prior to 9-11 as a favor to their Taliban allies. The *Northern Alliance* -- the reconstituted Mujahadeen -- kicked both the Taliban and al Qaeda out of Afghanistan in 2001 with our help, and are now instituting a democratic government in Afghanstan.

"My point was that we have a bad habit of picking our 'friends'"

What, precisely is wrong with our support of the Mujahadeen? They are -- and were -- the good guys.

You miss the entire goal to fighting a war...

The goal is NOT to die for your country, but to make the other poor son of a b!tch die for his.

Get it right loser.

mujahadeen - a military force of Muslim guerilla warriors engaged in a jihad

Their methods of fighting are the same that were used againt us. Hitting soft targets and the like.

Also, the warlord of the Northern Alliance are as every bit as brutal as the Taliban. They are not "good" guys.

"Iraq Body Count", a website that bases their numbers on the premises of Dr. Marc Herold, a professor of economics and women's studies at the University of New Hampshire.

His methods are retorted here:

http://www.opendemocracy.net/debates/article-2-48-182.jsp

Nobody would dare claim there have been no civilian casualties in Afghanistan or Iraq but I'd prefer more reliable numbers than the ones imagined by left-wing anti-war nuts.

Next time, shoot for something more credible than college cranks.

The goal should be:

"Thou shalt not kill."

My point is that I am willing to risk my life to secure thw freedom this country stands for.

Everyday I risk my life more in an automobile than in an entire lifetime of terrorism.

Teh terrorists did win a substancial victory; they made us fearful.

There's a difference between compiling data and publicizing it.

Did Clinton report the number of innocent civilians NATO killed in Bosnia-Herzegovinia?

No president in time of war is going to promote the number of civilian casualties. It doesn't mean they aren't counting.

If there was no concern for civilian casualties, we would have just nuked Afghanistan and Iraq, preventing even a single U.S. death from occuring, and just been done with it.

And what about this war killing at least 8000 innocent civilians in Iraq.

Now, compare that to the hundreds of thousands killed by Saddam. Or the thousands of children that Saddam starved under sanctions to apply pressure to end sanctions. Sometimes war saves a lot of lives over the long run.

Your sanctimony doesn't cut it here, troll.

The goal should be: "Thou shalt not kill."

I think you should start with a more basic goal, such as obtaining a clue.

This may not fit here, but here it goes anyway; This is from the movie "Tombstone" and was said by Kurt Russell "Wyatt" after he had shot someone in Tuson. "Run you kur. Tell them I'm comming. Tell them I'm comming & hell's comming with me" Or words to that effect!

I can just imangine President Bush uttering those words to the world! And I'd would like to be there to back those up too!

I was against Clinton on that decision, too.
(As were most of my Republican buddies)

Now, though, invading another country that was no threat to us is OK because we were getting rid of a bad guy and installing a democracy.

Sounds like the same rationale for Bosnia, Kosovo and Haiti.

My point is that I am willing to risk my life to secure thw freedom this country stands for.

Join the military, go to Iraq, no one is stopping you.

Everyday I risk my life more in an automobile than in an entire lifetime of terrorism.

...and you know this how? - There could be a terrorist sleeper cell in the building next door to your home. That truck that just passed you on that highway could have a dirty nuke in the back end.

Teh terrorists did win a substancial victory; they made us fearful.

They might have won a battle, but the United State will indeed win the war and by taking the battle to them, fighting it on the soil of Afgan. and Iraq, they have to divert resources to fight us there. Also, they have found out quickly how often they lose when they fight our military and not school kids and people on their way to work.

Nice try.
