I think it should be public policy that every school is mandated to teach children SELF DEFENSE what to do if a stranger approaches, how to defend themselves, wether it's to run scream kick. They need to know all the lures from predators this should be part of the school ciriculum.

missyme, I can certainly appreciate both of the sentiments that you have expressed on this thread......one, that adults should look out for innocent children, and two, that children need to be taught self defense measures if approached by a stranger. However, I am also aware of a conflict between the two sentiments. I know that my husband and many of his friends have become very reluctant to approach a strange child for any reason, simply because of all the hysteria surrounding the dreaded "male stranger." Unfortunately, their reluctance is compounded by the provocative styles that so many young girls wear these days. I've heard them say more than once that they try to avoid even looking at these girls, much less approaching them, lest they be labeled a PERVERT. While I think most men are still willing to intervene in a situation where a child is clearly in danger, I think a lot of dangerous situations are overlooked by men who are reluctant to put themselves at risk. IMO, it's a very sad situation for everyone.
