...it is all based on what Tancredo and other unnamed representatives SAID happened.

This is the sort of Pro-President Bush argument that doesn't make sense to me. Rather than address the fact that President Bush is losing support and that constituents are loudly voicing their displeasure with their representatives, your argument casts aspersions on the very politicians who are listening to the American People, to the Conservative Voice, and to Republicans who care about immigration and spending.

Your remark is worded in such a way so as to cast doubt on the veracity of Rep. Tancredo's comments, and Tancredo himself. How does attacking Tancredo, a patriot who has represented the people of Colorado very well in Congress, convince the disgruntled to keep voting for President Bush?

Let me try to explain. I have no doubt that there are plenty of constituents upset about the immigration bill. I think it good that Rove hear from representatives about what the constituents are saying. This is the only way policy gets changed.

But Rove has already heard the gripes from the representatives, and will take the news back to the White House. Nothing further needs to be said.

Tancredo and the others who blab to the press do nothing except let the democrats know that there is disagreement in the ranks. It may serve to let Tancredo's constituents think him more important than he is, but that is not particularly helpful to the party as a whole, nor does it further the agenda Tancredo pushes.

FWIW, your style is admirable, and your message substantive.

It's my opinion that the base is not that necessary when the independents are under a party's sway, but once the independents go independent, getting the base to come out becomes imperative. It's not smart to goad and marginalize those you have a chance of reaching through reasoned, sound debate such as yours. Those who are unreasonable or unreachable are better left ignored.

As I've said many times before, I'm going to vote for Bush because I fear that if I don't an American city or two is likely to be leveled in 5 to 10 years, maybe even sooner. But I must confess to having my confidence in him shaken on several fronts, including the WOT.

I will be very surprised if he is our President next year at this time, because I fear a lot of people have lost that same sense of confidence they once had in him.

Perhaps, he can rebuild it. I'm anxious to watch Meet The Press on Sunday, as that should be a good indicator of how he plans to address the cries of his critics.

I hope he's so strong and sure that it staunches (sp?) some of this bloodletting because it's really starting to worry me.
