"Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
Hence the Democrats and their handmaidens in the "Reform" party and whatever other fringe group du jour who is their lineal descendant.

"I would expect some people to say that, and I would expect other people to tell them to pound sand. It will always be thus. I figure the optimum strategy is to howl like a banshee about all the things I don't like, right up until election day. And then vote for Bush anyway. But I wouldn't want him to know I'm going to do that. If he doesn't worry that I might stay home, he has no reason to listen to my howling." A succinct explanation of what I am trying to do [for this election only, your mileage may vary]

Growing frustration over President Bush's immigration plan and lack of fiscal discipline came to a head behind closed doors at last weekend's Republican retreat in Philadelphia.
House lawmakers, stunned by the intensity of their constituents' displeasure at some of Mr. Bush's key domestic policies, gave his political strategist Karl Rove an earful behind closed doors.

"I don't think the majority of freepers and and FR owner want to run off those of us who were thinking of third party but have changed our minds. Why have a debate then? There are votes out there to get, Tex is not going to capture any of them with the attitude that he/she doesn't care and it doesn't matter anyway, I can tell you that for sure." Bingo.

"I didn't say anything about anyone "running" anyone else "off"." Then you haven't been paying attention. Especially to the events that unfolded last weekend.

The claim that the base deserted Bush in 1992 is an urban legend.
I'm sorry, I disagree. The alleged polling data was run at the behest of the DNC to shore up Clinton's showing . As time passed, moe evidence emerged to indicate tha tthe opposite was true. I recall Limbaugh saying the former in 1993 then as late as 2000 saying the latter. Perot said it best when he dropped out of the 92 race the first time "The Democratic Party now has its act together" Now, maybe I may not a "true" conservative,of the knee jerk drooling John Birch type, but I sure as hell know an endorsement when I hear one. So, your assertion does not stand scrutiny. Oh, an aside, anyone here recall the beating Rush got from the Perotistas, or has tha tbeen shunted aside as well?

"This damned election is too important to spend one minute trying to woo a bunch of unappeasable knuckleheads. It just is not worth it." You certainly are spending an awful lot of time insulting everybody in sight.

then why did they not do their Contitutionally mandated duty to begin with, rather than play the" don't blame me game? " I know,it is all Bush's fault, that stinkin' RINO.
Answer this,y'all , which piece of middle class welfare are you planning on giving up?

Running th GOP out is not an issue with me. Some Independents you could work on a bit, but you are for sure running out Republicans who do not see how they fit into the party right now.
My point is, those people do not need to be run out, but listened to and talked to.
I know for a fact that last night you ran two of them out of here who were listening to a voice of reason. ( Me)
But you don't care about their votes , and it appears you would rather chase them off for good, rather than admit you could be wrong, and that you can't have 100% of what you want, which I believe is a party that never talks about the real issues, or tires to find a solution to the many problems that face us right now.

... to broaden the party. To continue along this muddy path is to alienate the core.
Better to define this party once and for all and let the Jeffords-types (there are legions) bail out. The Specters, Collins, Snows, Warners and the rest need to be booted.

Refreshing. Thanks for expressing (part of) my sentiment.
Of course I still enjoy giving 'em the rapier w/ roses on occasion. I reserve the right to do that.
Most of the time they don't know what hit 'em.

Are you getting the picture?

Well your assertion reeks of hysteria, and your slam is fatuous, but then I'm used to you reacting with emotion. Every time some jackass sends a message that gets a leftist in office, that erodes the middle class .And exactly where were you when the LBJ kicked open the gates, and his party held it open? Oh, that's right ,it is only that stinkin' RINO Bush's fault, for putting up a damned PROPOSAL. Come back and address me when you have something besides a DNC talking point. Shrinking middle class because of President Bush? Please,be rational.
Are YOU getting the picture?

I do it quite well ;-).
And my comment was made in the context of quite a few posts you have been making recently.
Look, you have a pretty sound head on your shoulders (from all apperances). You can't tell me the bloodletting that started last Friday night was a good thing?
