CHARLESTON, S.C. (Reuters) - President Bush acknowledged on Thursday that the United States has not found banned weapons "we thought" were in Iraq, but defended the war as "the right thing" to do. "We have not yet found the stockpiles of weapons that we thought were there," Bush said in a speech at the port of Charleston, South Carolina. However, he said, "Knowing what I knew then and knowing what I know today, America did the right thing in Iraq."

I'm glad that he said he still thinks that we did the right thing. That's what's important. Even without WMD, we did the right thing. Although with everything that was going on, we had no reason to believe that there were no WMD. If a cop thinks that I have a gun and repeatedly asks me to lift my shirt to prove that I don't...I'm going to lift my shirt! If I don't and the cop shoots me the cop is probably justified.

The RATS will try and squeeze as much blood out of this as they can.
Kerry's taking a good whipping on his abandoning Viet Nam vets and his "medals" are taking even more scrutiny from those who knew him in Nam.
We did the right thing in Iraq.

Me thinks the RATs should think twice about continuing their diatribes on WMD after seeing Tenet's speech this AM was like inviting somebody with a shotgun to a knife fight and Tenet comes fully loaded. All one need really here IMO is the now public account of how Saddam held a meeting of his top officials at the end of 2002 and was furious that, on the brink of war, he still didn't have a nuclear bomb. Kerry & the RATs were more than willing to give him the additional time he needed to have a nuclear bomb by the time they'd have finally gotten around to holding the U N accountable.

"Just maybe, the 9 months of stalling by the U.N. and our own Congress gave Iraq the time they needed to get the really incriminating stuff across the border into Syria." The "Maybes" are piling up.
The best scenario is that had Saddam gone left unchecked, he would have eventually developed the WMD we claimed he had and was prepared to use against us.
Saw some pretty damaging testimony by several of the weapons inspectors yesterday regarding our CIA intl that was given to the inspectors before the war.
Powell was brought up showing his briefing to the UN and presenting slides of "decontamination trucks" parked outside "chemical weapons storage" bunkers.
It turns out Powell got egg all over his face on these - the "decon trucks" were nothing but fire trucks.
Also, the inspectors were given heavy satellite photo recon for inspection points and those being interviewed said repeatedly the recon was "worthless."

The headline should have read "Bush: Arms 'We Thought' Were in Iraq Are Not Found Yet"
Knowing the sladerous mass media, Bush should have said "We are still searchng for the WMD information led us to believe was there, and hope to find them.
You can't assume that your talking to "normal" people when addressing the press.
