My comment was strictly practical. Unless you're a Neilsen family or are otherwise surveyed, what you watch has no effect on the ratings and advertising revenues. But, every time someone visits CNN's Web site, it increments their hit counter. CNN sells banner ads on their site. Advertisers look at the hit counter as one measure of whether their money is well spent on CNN. So, I flatly refuse to visit their site (not even to FReep a meaningless poll). I get at least 90% of my online news from FR. :-)
