You are exactly correct. In the AQ mindset, the BEST thing that could happen would be a US overreaction to a provocation - the proverbial "nuking of Mecca" you read so often on FR. AQ wants an apocalyptic conflict between Islam and the West, and GWB will certainly give them that. The difference is that the AQ scumbags have a view of time that is more akin to the Chinese than to ours. We sit here and act like it is a great accomplishment that they haven't struck the homeland in 2+ years, but there is no reason to think they are in any hurry.

Islam wants to destroy the West. Period. Every man woman and child. They want only Islam to exist. They want to personally kill you, me, your children (if any), your Mom, Dada, Grandpa Uncles and Aunts, the guy or gal you had coffee or a soda with today or yesterday, everyone in the mall or store you went to, the road you drive on, the houses on your block.

This is the Last Great Battle. Civilization versus Barbarism. Winner take all. For the next centuries.

That's the point -- the ease with which we sauntered in and eliminated what they thought of as an invincible force. They thought for sure their God (we know him as satan) would triumph. Instead we didn't even break a sweat.

Dont insult our intelligence. Osama could care less about prescriptions and our dirty laundry. He is hardly wild about the idea of being attacked in Afghanistan. I guess you easily forget we are continually routing terrorists in Afghanistan as we speak?

Their preposterous views on defense and failure to defend the US would leave Bin Laden in an excellent position to rebuild his base of power in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the middle east.
