I am not sure that for election purposes, the dispute need even get to Kerry's position for/against "gay marriage." I suspect that just having this decision come out of the MA high court while he is running is bad news for him... being linked to Massachusetts in the public's mind right now might not be the greatest campaign attribute. The news this morning had much discussion re. GOP efforts to portray Kerry as "just another Massachusetts liberal." If those efforts go forward, I'd say this ruling will give them a bit more ooomph by reinforcing the "Massachusetts liberal" concept in the mind of voters. For a lot of people, it doesn't get more liberal than this.

When I was in Massachusetts, I found much of it nauseatingly liberal in a sort of rude self-congratulatory "ministering to the intellectual lepers" way... You know, the gifted ones enlightening us poor knuckle draggers. I got to see them all foaming at the mouth over Ronald Reagan, but I guess it turns out I was there during the conservative era! Who knew???

That's funny!
Good thing there were enough folks in Massachusetts to give that state's Electoral votes to RR twice, much to the dismay of the intellectual apparatchiks.

...and Grace's husband was RR's favorite President, ya know. :^)
