Show me how or where President Bush either proclaims or portrays himself a hero.

I don't know as any hero proclaims himself a hero. Kerry comes as close as any. Bush is proclaimed a hero by various supporters. Most heros are unknown, that act on the spur of the moment in emergency situations. I know of no case where Bush has been a true hero. Kerry probably fit the bill but his actions after returning home negated the heroic actions he made in Vietnam. While our troops were still engaged in combat and many captured and held prisoner, encouragement of the Viet Cong was traitorous.
