God Bless Our Military

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Mama_Bear; Dansangel; Dutchess or Aquamarine and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nation’s leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~

We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" —John 21:7

We cannot fully know God's greatness,
Wisdom, power, and care;
But it's enough to know that He
Is with us everywhere

Eyes of faith can see God at work.

"I Spy!"

Read: John 21:1-7

That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" —John 21:7

Bible In One Year: Exodus 34-35; Matthew 22:23-46

My wife and I have some friends who used to play a game with their children called "I Spy." If a family member saw what appeared to be God at work in their surroundings, he or she would call out, "I spy!" It might be a beautiful sunset or some special blessing. These experiences reminded them of God's presence in the world and in their lives.

That game reminds me of Jesus' disciples and their futile fishing endeavor recorded in John 21:1-7. Early in the morning they saw through the mist a man standing on the shore, but they didn't know it was Jesus. "Children, have you any food?" He asked. "No," they replied. "Cast the net on the right side of the boat," He said, "and you will find some." The disciples obeyed and their net was filled with so many fish they couldn't draw it in. "It is the Lord!" exclaimed John. It was an "I spy" moment, and it was John, "the disciple whom Jesus loved," who was the first to recognize Him.

Ask God to give you eyes to "see" Jesus, whether in the extraordinary events or the everyday affairs of your life. If you pay attention, you will see His hand at work where others see nothing. Try playing "I spy" today and let the Lord's presence reassure you of His love and care. —David Roper

But it's enough to know that He
Is with us everywhere. —Hess

Thanks for posting this list.

Update on my son: he is about to graduate from Basic Training; and then will leave for Texas for AIT (medic.)

He could use prayer right now because he has to pass his PT (physical training) test before he can graduate...he failed the first one by 2 sit-ups!!!

The re-take is this week sometime.

After Texas it's anyone's guess as to where he will end up; possibly back at school, doing National Guard weekends once a month, or possibly active duty, if he/the Army decide that's where he needs to be.

I hear a lot of negative comments from people when I talk about what he is doing........."How could you let him???", "Aren't you worried???", "Is he crazy???", etc. etc. etc.

That is why I so very much appreciate the positive, prayerful support of FReepers.

When he visited him last week (we attended graduation, even though he wasn't allowed to participate due to not passing his PT) he asked me what I was going to tell the FR folks about the base & about our experiences there. This is what I have to say: if the young people we met and observed are any indication of the caliber of the entire U.S. military, then the country is in very good hands indeed.
