Yup...

FRNCC - "Wardrobe Malfunction" by Robert Hahn

Secretary Rumsfeld is almost hilarious in the way he uses 1950's language to swear. His is an extremely sophisticated act, and one thing it shows us is how many of the taboos that used to restrain people's behavior are gone now. When I was a child, adults of a certain social class did not say 'Damn' or 'Hell' in public. All of that is gone now. We've all seen corporate CEO's spew the f-word in meetings as if it's an everyday word, the way Rumsfeld says, "Oh, goodness gracious no."

It still sounds crass, uncultured, and rebellious to use profanity. My respect is greater for the person who will use a vocabulary void of profanity. Some of the corporate world has done just as much as Hollywood to degenerate our country. They finance the degradation. Was there really inferred beastiality in Super Bowl commercials? What's next?

Emulating Rummy is not a bad choice as an ideal aiming point. So his language might be considered 50'ish; is that bad? He is master at the podium and has no problem getting his point across, ever. Maybe our yardstick should be What Would Rummy Say (THE Rummy, not A rummy).
