After the anthrax attacks I took to opening the mail outdoors, with gloves and a mask on. A physician I know took great amusement in my precautions and thought I was overreacting. Then Ottilie Lundgren died from apparent cross-contamination.

It's going to be darned cold to start up that procedure again at this time of year. Hope it's an isolated postal facility, but it could be much worse... I hope not.

prairie, my daught had to have her fiance open her mail outside. She has rheumatoid arthritis and her immune system is compromised because of all of her meds. Her mail, BTW, came through the NJ Hamilton facility.

Well the good part is that anthrax can get into you with just a few airborne spores. Ricin needs a reasonable amount injested, is it 300mg or so? I doubt highly you could inhale that much even if it's floating around, unless it's a full vaporized attack.
