Considering the area is on lockdown due to the ricin scare, this "over reaction" is understandable.
The suspicious item is across the street from the Hart Building at 2nd and C Streets, NE.

Elmo is attacking the capital!
Does anyone have that picture of Elmo testifying?
To: mystery-ak
CT post office, Senate Office Building and now this and the media is babbling about nothing.
If a large terrorist attack happens right now, will the media break away from Janet Jacket, Kobe Bryant, et al in order to report the attack?

I know I shouldn't laugh, because I do remember something from a ways back about somebody threatening to rig teddy bears to explode...but God, I can't get the picture out of my mind of crowds fleeing from a smiling stuffed bear...

"stuffed toy animal."Is there a suspicious solvent ordor? Check for a pulse. Maybe it's Teddy Kennedy.

Thanks for keeping those of us chained to our desks posted.
Ricin? Isn't that the poison of choice that is regularly featured in shows like "The New Detectives" and "FBI Files?" I wouldn't think it has airborne qualities like anthrax, but rather, it needs to be ingested.

Of course they will, they'll report how GW dropped the ball and exposed us to terrorism even after invading innocent countries blah blah blah.
