Police Search For Missing 11-Year-Old Florida Girl
By First Coast News Staff
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL -- There is an Amber Alert in Florida for a missing 11-year old.
Carlie Brucia is five feet tall and weighs 120 pounds. She was last seen on Sunday wearing a short-sleeved red shirt and blue jeans. Brucia has blond hair and blue eyes.
Police believe she was taking a short cut home on Sunday, and while walking behind a car wash in Sarasota, a man approached her and grabbed her.
Investigators are looking at surveillance video from behind the car wash. It does show a man approaching the girl and police say she does not appear to know him.
The suspect is a white man, about 5'10" and 200 pounds. He is believed to be in his 20s or 30s. He was wearing mechanics clothing.
If you have any information concerning the whereabouts of this child, please contact FDLE or the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office at 941-861-4260 or 1-888-FLMISSING (1-888-356-4774).

My daughter is 11. Her father and I took the opportunity to call her to the television and watch the report.Similar btdt to your smoke alarm. You try to teach them but in the end they're still children. The girl did indeed go with the man far too easily. Like you, we have done role playing with the kids but we're going to go through it again today. Sad to say they have mace and we gave them walkie talkies for Christmas just so they can hopefully beep us on the short walk to their friends'. Christmas has turned into protection devices for our loved ones. Anyone know what happened with the girl who went missing from her car who had gotten a cell phone, though not activated, for Christmas?

It didn't look that dark on the tape but then again it may have been well lighted. FNC says there's a golf course by the carwash so the police are getting the sign up sheet hoping a golfer saw something. I would think it would have to be fairly light outside to be playing golf at the time of the kidnapping. Reports are she was walking home from a friend's. There will be a press conference at 2 eastern.

One of my daughters is 11 also. Your heart sinks when you see something like this. Praying hard for Carlie's safe return.

Looks like the utility outfit the man had on has TWO letters on it? Could be the name "AL"? Someone is GOING to recognize him.
I wanted to scream at this poor child "run, sweetie, run"!
Wonder why he put his hand in his pocket? Must have been getting his car keys ready.
I hate this case.

I had a hard time watching that video too. Yes it does look like two letters, and I cannot think of any other shortened man's name other than AL. I'm at work now, but I hope they are showing this pic and video constantly on the news, especially in FL. Time is key to getting this poor child home safe, alive....

I hope people stop this nonsense that the girl just walked away with this guy.....the video to me shows her shirking back, and she is definately being pulled along....
I'll bet he came up to her, yelled "what are you doing here"....."we have had a lot of robberies"......"you're coming with me to the police"....
when you are small.....5'0 and so very young, everybody is threatening....
please, please find this guy.....he's right there and should be very identifiable.....
God, please intervene.....

Sarasota sheriff's major Kevin Gooding said Tuesday that a man walking at 5:50 a.m. noticed a man and girl involved in a struggle near a green 4-door Honda or Nissan sitting in a Kissimmee parking lot.
The witness said the girl (possibly Carlie Burcia) was in a red shirt and blue jeans. He told officers that he noticed the girl tried to get away from the man but left the scene, Gooding said.

http://www.local6.com/news/2814882/detail.html There was one specific lead Gooding discussed. He said officials received information from the Kissimmee Police Department that there was an incident reported where a man was allegedly walking at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday morning in an area and he "seized" a car.
The witness said a man and a female were struggling near the car and that the female fit Carlie's description.
"They struggled and the female ran away from the male. The male tried to grab her to bring her back," Gooding said.
The witness wasn't sure of what he saw, but he then went home and saw the Amber Alert on TV and realize that struggle could be related to the Amber Alert.

I sure hope that was her. That means she may be alive, please G-d, still.
I think on the video, though it's hard to see, his nametag could have had 3 letters. I agree that he is not 10 inches taller than she is, although she may have been wearing some low platform shoes, perhaps - her feet look a little clunky. Poor little thing, she sure doesn't look 11.
Her mother must feel so GUILTY about now, having let her walk alone to her friend's house. I think my kids will have to have driver's licenses before I let them go anywhere alone... What a world.

"Her mother must feel so GUILTY "
rationally, she should not feel guilty...anymore than having her walk to school or church early in the morning or evening...
and remember, in most states, 11 is the age a girl can start babysitting....
however, there is NOTHING THAT I DON'T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.....such is being a female and a mother......am I right?......lol

I have 2 grandaughters ages 11 & 14. They don't go ANY place alone. Certainly not alone on the street. There are just too many pervs out there. This girl should not have been out there alone, its sad but that is the way it is in the world in 2004, and it has been for many years. Think about all the little girls who were sent to the corner store by mamma & were never seen again. I am praying she will be found alive.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that there are so many people praying, and so many people searching for this young girl. Keep her safe until the return to her family, O God ... comfort Carlie's parents and family with Your presence. Give the greatest wisdom to those who are searching for her ... let nothing be overlooked ... may the abductor soon be in custody and Carlie returned to her family. In the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...

They showed another tape locally and it was considerably darker. The tape was actually from Sunday night but they thought they may have had a suspect and didn't release it until yesterday instead of Sunday night. Today they stated that the kidnapper had tattoos on both arms and NASA is using their technology to get as detailed a look as possible at the tattoos and the kidnapper. Her mom was just doing a presser on tv, holding her cat and talking to her daughter. It was sad to see this scene yet again.
