....seeing a watered down porn show.

It was porn and not watered down.

I take it you have never seen real porn, then. It was a single naked breast seen from a distance for a split second - it was minor nudity, not porn. Sheesh.

Nope, not a democrat and not an uptight bible thumper either. I have spent time with guys in the Army and while they may be professionals on duty, a whole lot of them drink, party swear, fight and chase women which is pretty normal for men under the age of 25.

Personally, I would think that our boys would care less that OBL cares either and you are out to lunch if you think that Janet Jackson's breast is going to make us any more of an enemy than we already are seen as.

What are these people thinking???

Good question. I have a neice with two young ones, ages 5 and 8. She and her husband made the decision not to have cable in their home. I think this was a good move.

So they sit down to watch the SuperBowl with the kids, and get subjected to this trash. Basically, what it's come down to is....turning the channel during the halftime show, or just shutting off the tv, or sending the kids out of the room. That doesn't seem fair to me.

Is it *too* much to ask for a football halftime show to be family friendly, or at least not downright offensive? Don't these people have enough other forums in which to display their porn?

I shudder to think of the dialog going on in grade schools around the country today. A man tearing at a woman's shirt, after singing "I'm gonna have you naked by the end of this song". Sad. It makes me glad that my children are grown, but now I have to worry about my future grandchilden growing up in this "anything goes" society.

I hope CBS, MTV, and everyone else involved in this obvious publicity stunt are pleased today. They sunk to and all time low. Obviously, that was their goal.

I'm sorry but the SuperBowl is not family entertainment, that's what Nickelodeon and Disney are for. The game itself is violent, the players too often do not display sportsmanship, the cheerleaders are sexy, beer commercials are everywhere and since the audience is predominantly male, that's where the ads are targeted for.

No, I'm sorry *you're* wrong. It is family entertainment. Has been in my family for years.

It never ceases to amaze me how some people can justify this trash.

What's the deal with the Jackson family? Michael and Janet, the two most well-known of the family, both exposing themselves to kids. Also, if that were a "costume malfunction," I haven't heard any public explaination of what the costume was really supposed to do when Timberlake grabbed it . . . ?? And if it were really unexpected, it's strange for someone to wear a sun shaped metal thingy on their nipple --just for fun. Doesn't look comfortable or practical with all the dancing and sweating.

Maybe in your house you have chosen it to be but I don't see how the modern football game can qualify as quality family entertainment. The game has always been violent, people get hurt and the players have really not changed that much over the years. The advertising is adult oriented with lots of beer promotion which again, is not for kids.

The NFL has already said they will not allow MTV to produce another halftime show.

No, they should it was "unlikely" that MTV would do another halftime show. There's plenty of wiggle room in that "unlikely."

I think that the MTV people and the performers were disingenuous to say the least and for that they should get a major kick in the ass. Much as I might like to look at boobs there is a place for it and broadcast TV isn't that.

I haven't heard the following take on this before and would appreciate your comments. A) The nudity was enough of an issue B) It insults our intelligence to then stammer out the excuse that it was not planned, but isn't the bigger issue C) WHY IS A GUY RIPPING OFF A GIRLS CLOTHES IN THE FIRST PLACE??? I've heard that it was just supposed to pull off the leather and not the bra, but even if that was the plan (and its not), why is that acceptable?? Is that what we want to teach our young boys?? Its ok to rip off clothes of a woman??? .

What are these people thinking???

It's called having your cake and eating it, too. They act like they're cool and beyond taboos, but without taboos, they're nothing. Without taboos to break, they have nothing to market. Recall that Janet Jackson's career (like the careers of most Super Bowl performers) has been pretty dormant in recent years, so she had only her self-respect to lose, while trying to jumpstart her career. And as far as MTV and CBS is concerned, in the media business, buzz is everything, and they certainly got buzz.

You just thank your lucky stars we didn't see Bush during this halftime show.

The argument has always been "If you don't like it, change the channel."

That doesn't work in this case.

This was an intentional sexual assault aimed at mainstream America's sensibilities. Anyone who denies that is a fool, or thinks everyone else is.

As I said on another thread, it is little use arguing with those who see nothing wrong with an intentional assault against the minds of young people, done in stealth fashion. That is the mind of the pedophile, and it is beneath contempt.

I used to think how silly all those people were who said Elvis shaking his hips on Ed Sullivan would eventually lead us here. I guess they were right after all.

It really is a shame that you just don't get the point. No sense in further dialogue with you on this subject. You can't see the forest for the trees. Discussing the radical Muslim culture is beyond your thought process. One can clearly see that from your remarks. I am not cross with you at all! There are millions just like you in America. I am sorry for you and for the future that America faces. And....my remarks have absolutely nothing to do with Janet Jackson baring her breast to millions families and children. I am no prude, but I know the Arab/Muslim world a lot better than you know it, and Ms. Jackson did nothing to help or aid the American cause, military or otherwise.

I understand your point but I'm not buying into it so please spare me your condescending, 1950's esque attitude.

The Muslim community hates us because of our:

Support for Israel
"Invading" Afghanistan
"Invading" Iraq
Troops on Saudi soil
Not being Muslim
Not treating women as subservient creatures
Past support for the Shah of Iran
Weakness in confronting aggression
Standard of living
Freedoms

and the fact that it's easy to blame us for their misery instead of looking at their own corrupt leadership

and the list goes on and on......

So please, thou Holiest of Muslim experts, go try and impress someone else with your deep grasp of how their mind thinks.
