I've only lived in Nevada for seven years but I can't recall any problems with the cat houses that are in this state.

Legalized prostitution in China is unlikely to resemble that in Nevada. What it will be about is the degradation and oppression of an entire class of young Chinese women.

I had a professor once that claimed revolutions occur when men outnumber women. And during the time of our own revolution there were many more men than women. Perhaps China understands.

Every so often the police in Reno have street sweeps, getting the hookers off. A lot of these girls have diseases of one kind or another from reports in the newspapers. The judges are real tough on the ones who have AIDS, they send them off to prison for attempted murder.

I think the women who work in the cat houses have to get tested every week or so. I don't know much about it except for what's been published in the local Democratic rag.

When you're hungry you use the skills you have. That's the way I tend to look at boxers, wrestlers, bseball players, football, etc. If a woman has no other skills, she uses her body the same as men do.

"I think the women who work in the cat houses have to get tested every week or so..."

IIRC, they must hold a license (which is conditional upon their possesing a current medical clearance), and the House must hold a license as well.

Both can be revoked at any time by health authorities or police. Oh, and in LEGAL brothels, condom use is mandatory.

Is it perfect? Of course not...risk exists everywhere in life. However, a LEGAL, REGULATED system like that of Nevada (or Puerto Rico, where prostitution is also legal) is nonetheless infinitely safer and cleaner, not to mention FAR less opressive and violent to the women involved than any illegal one.

Let us not forget, also, that pornographic movies and magazines are legal in most places, and do they not constitute prostitution?

Oh, but that's 1st Amendment. Where is it, Sweden where having sex with an animal is legal? I'd sure like to hear a goat say, "Yes, I want you to do it to me."

I thought they already had prostitution there. Wasn't Bill Klintoon their whore for 8 years??

Hades!...IMHO, The (vast majority of) 'RAT Party and to a much lesser extent, the GOP...have become adept @ state-sponsored prostitution...Watch out for Mrs. William Jefferson Blight Clinton..."She only wants to help youuu." :/

There was one famous cathouse outside Reno that the IRS owned for a couple of years. They lost money with the real thing so they sold it and went back to screwing us the old way.

HA!HA!..It was the Mustang Ranch..."Swimmer" Ted Kenndey and Chris Dodd offer to investigate the ranch..free-of-charge..on site, during his/their remaining tenure in office....w/ an ample amount of scotch whiskey. :))

Good point...the violence and other negatives associated with prostitution tend not to exist where it is legal.

That's not entirely true. It is true of the prostitutes in brothels in Nevada. However, Nevada still has the same problems as everyone else with street prostitutes, underage prostitutes, pimps, drugs, etc. Ditto the Netherlands and other places where prostitution is "legal". In short there is no evidence to support that legal prostitution eliminates the problems traditionally associated with prostitution. It does make the lives of SOME prostitutes safer.

Hebei province will become the 1st province in China to legalize prostitution, other provinces will soon follow.

Everything is for sale on free market.

Don't worry, I'm not upset; I was merely pointing out that legalized prostitution is objectively wrong.

Please enlighten us as to why it's objectively wrong.

Why is someone who needs this explained posting on a conservative website? What exactly is it you desire to conserve?

BTW, I didn't need even need to look at your profile to know you were a libertarian.LOL.

It could be objectively wrong for any number of reasons, including religious, health, Mrs Grundy's disapproval, psychobabble, etc.

Apparently you can't answer the question. Your ad hominem doesn't qualify as an answer.

And yours is a disingenous response. So it's an ad hominem attack to call someone a libertarian or to point out that legalized abortion is a position that no authentic conservative could possible support?

It could be objectively wrong for any number of reasons, including religious, health, Mrs Grundy's disapproval, psychobabble, etc.

No, something is objectively wrong when it contradicts truth, but it's interesting to note your implied distate of anything that smacks of relgion, Mrs, Grundy, or pyschobabble. No implied ad hominems there, eh?

So it's an ad hominem attack to call someone a libertarian or to point out that legalized abortion...

You apparently aren't even aware that the discussion was about legalized prostitution, let alone describe why the same is objectively wrong.

Care to try again or shall we give up ?

That was an error on my part. I am quite aware that the article was about legalized prostitution, as is quite obvious from my first comments on this thread. And my answer has already been posted elsewhere. Look it up, but don't bother me again.
