Put it this way. Imagine two candidates that are identical on every issue except taxes. On that issue, one has a plan that raises YOUR taxes, the other has a plan that raises SOMEONE ELSE's. I'm going to pick the one who has the long term best interests of the country at heart. You see, I can see further then the nose on my face.

I can see what the long term effects are, and that they will affect me and my family even if they don't right at the minute. You see, Dubya's tax cut didn't really impact on me. The marriage penalty remission didn't apply to me, the child credit didn't apply to me, but I know good and well that it's important to the economy and that DOES apply to me.
