I had that '63 Corvair for a couple years and every winter it would do loop-de-loops all the way to work. Bastard hated going straight on ice, not that I could afford snow tires back then.
It didn't bother me much, though. Back then I was a teen for one thing, and had been driving on ice since the age of 9, so other traffic generally just stopped and watched till I was done, then they'd applaud, and we'd all go on our way. I was good; never hit a durn thing (that experience saved my derriere a bunch of times since).

Wow! Spectacular!
Did those two jeepers know your bud was asleep or did they think he did it on purpose?

That's the real phenomeon of it. If you made it driving that far while asleep, you
know your eyes had to be open. If your eyes were open...do we have brain specialist here?...you know the optic part of your brain was functioning.
But what part of the sleeping brain was making the decisions?
We should know the answer in case it happens again!!

The humorous part was a couple minutes after we flipped .. a carload of 3 elderly couples came by and stopped and ended up taken us both home.
They asked us whose kids we were and were really very kind, but I do recall a chuckle or two from them as they drove us home.

What is "Don't drink and drive?"

Weird freaking feeling, isn't it? To drive all that way asleep and arrive safely...you thank God and then wonder what the hell just happened and why are you still aliveYup... nothin' wakes you up quite as well as losing that driver's side mirror to a bridge abutment...

Weird freaking feeling, isn't it? To drive all that way asleep and arrive safely...you thank God and then wonder what the hell just happened and why are you still alive. Then you thank God again and wonder forever after.Sometimes, I wonder if we DO die in those weird situations. Then God will show us all the fatal misteps we made and their ramifications in the world we left behind, and in the next world He let us live in.

I am just glad nobody was injured. I am told that endover accidents have the highest injury rate. The old couples were snickering probably thinking "young amateurs".

It's a blast. Dad got my brother and I a '52 Chevy to learn how to drive. It was a practical drcision on his part. He had a couple acres of saplings to clear.
That Chevy was a tank. We had all the trees down in short order, but the real fun was when the field turned to ice. I was 9, he was 5! Those were the good old days.

That picture you painted of hair raising night drve remined me of Vegas, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". Ever read it? Nonetheless, your buddy shoulda been in a movie; you have me laughing each time I wonder what the others thought.

I have a hard time picturing Alex Trebek driving a pick-up truck (with the way he preteniously corrects contestants in their pronounciation of foreign words and what not). Glad he wasn't hurt.
That was my very first thought also. LOL.
I'm afraid that the correct pronunciation is "Heh-mee", which in fact, this motor vehicle is equipped with. Do you have any Grey Poupon by any chance?

The sad thing is, I actually looked the word up and still misspelled. Spellcheckers have spoiled me.
