At this point in time, the most important thing to me is who will keep this country from being attacked again? That's important to me too, but to the exclusion of all other issues? That seems terribly short-sighted to me.
To: NittanyLion
I believe we are in a situation now where that has to be the most important issue. If we turn the war over to socialists it will be terrible.

Look at his standard of living! It's always someone else's fault. Just make sure you write out the check to JJ.
Hahahahaha. JJ may hate capitalism but he does like the checks.

I said that was the most important to me. Certainly, there are other important issues as well. Most of those issues I tend to agree with President Bush on. There will never be a politician with whom I can agree on everything. But on most of the issues that are important to me, I agree with President Bush. I believe Saddam, at the very least, was a threat to his own people and we are all better off without him. I believe that it is very important that children gain basic knowledge at a young age because it becomes increasingly difficult to learn as you get older. I believe that President Bush's tax cuts have worked since the economy is continuing to grow. I believe that life starts at conception and that abortions are murder. Those are the issues that are important to me.

VERY well said ilovew. For a college student you have held your own well in these treacherous threads! Some of the "more mature" posters should take note of your clear concise reasons.
But alas, I think they just want to argue....not hear reason.

Worth saying again:
The conservative backlash is being orchestrated at its core by a democrat. DO NOT FALL FOR IT, CONSERVATIVES. You've been infiltrated and are believing liberal spin. --Floriduh Voter
President Bush must be re-elected!

***ditto your #4. I believe the conservative backlash is being orchestrated at its core by a democrat. DO NOT FALL FOR IT, CONSERVATIVES. You've been infiltrated and are believing liberal spin.
Bush may be using strategery again to root out the aforementioned infiltrators. YES, STICK WITH PRESIDENT BUSH or buy a gas mask that may not be sufficient if we're blown to smithereens instead.***
This deserves to be said over and over and over again.

You are sitting in Cincinnati, I am sitting 15 miles north from the busiest border crossing in the world between San Diego and Mexico. I don't like the illegal alien situation but the child like third party attitude will place the liberal democrats back in the white house. If you don't see things in the big picture such as a democrat president placing his type on the supreme court, and worse. Life is not an all or nothing situation. I am to much of a conservative to want to see a democrat back in the whitehouse.

The world "glabalism" seeks an end to the identity of the US.Yes. These people are as misguided as the Muslim suicide bombers.

Lamb says the country is almost evenly divided. We do not know that. It is all based on polls that are presented as if they were reliable.
If it is evenly divided then it is probably 90% frustrated pro-American Republicans, and 90% frustrated pro-American Democrats. I have more faith in the values and culture of Americans, then I do in the corrupt political machinery that purports to represent them. Much of the polling simply captures the propaganda spewed on the latest news stories; beyond that there is a lot of room for common ground. We hate them because they supported Clinton, and they hate us because we supported GW; yet both sides only supported these people because it was the only practical choice presented to them.
Whether we call ourselves liberals, or conservatives, we all live under the same rules; we work together, play together, and share in a popular culture. We all care about our future and the prospects for our children and grandchildren. Perhaps it is time we start calling ourselves simply Americans again and tell all of our dysfunctional, divisive, self-serving parties to take a hike.

How do you know?
Show me the math. Given that someone pays Social Security their entire life, then collects for 10 years, what does it come out to?
Do you really know the numbers or are you just jerking our chains?

All I can say is that there are risks in having and exercising principles. Without principled voters we can't ever be certain that the elected will be principled. It is like the corrupt. When the citizens go along with corruption in government the society only becomes more corrupt.
I suspect you are whistling past the graveyard and do not understand the dimensions of the disregard many true patriotic conservatives believe GWB has exhibited for the rule of law, fiscal responsibility, constitutionality with respect to the first and second amendments, and the fact that he indeed takes conservatives for granted as his voting block.
I would like the situation to be different, but it is not. I would like to proclaim my intention to vote for GWB, but I can't now. I would like to believe he is best for the future of this great nation, but here are too many conflicting questions to that effect now. The real question is, if I am saying this I can't be the only one to think it, can I?
