I wouldn't put too much hope in "dirt" on Kerry. We kept waiting for Bush I and Dole to unleash "dirt" on Clinton in 1992 and 1996 -- never happened. And had it happened, there is no indication that the general public could have understood what the "dirt" was all about. People have to be led around by their noses and have everthing explained over and over. That's the way Reagan conducted his political outreach -- took simple points and repeated them over and over for the benefit of the American sheeple.

Put no faith in the "dirt" on Kerry? The definition of "dirt" has changed since 92 and 96. In those elections we were looking for sensational, gossippy-style dirt.

The "dirt" of the post 9-11 world comprises treasonous acts, unwillingness to protect America and willingness to sacrifice American autonomy. Kerry will sink under when his patriotism is called into question.

Worries about the economy will indeed sway public opinion. But economic news prior to Nov. 2 can be as influential as "war" news, or new immigration policies in the same time period. (So many voters are so fickle.)

Radical conservatives will flee from Bush at the same levels that radical environmentalists and peace activists flee from Kerry.

All this, of course, does not take into account "hanging chads", etc.

It will be an interesting drama from now until election day.

No matter whom we choose to vote for, I hope that every FReeper has put in November 2 as a vacation day, so that we have as many eyes in the polls as possible.

I don't see the trend for leftist democrats anywhere. So far the house, senate and governorships have trended towards republicans. The only anti-Bush sentiment comes from the far left. But were going to have to put up with this polling banter for 10 months until Bush squashes ketch-up boy...ugh.
