The White House yesterday rejected calls by Democrats for an independent investigation into how and why intelligence agencies thought Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction (WMD) before the Iraq war.

Speaking on NBC's "Today" show yesterday, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice said the Bush administration "simply believes that there is still work to be done" in Iraq before an independent inquiry should take place.

Mr. Levin complained that the committee's investigation is too narrow because it does not examine how the pre-war intelligence "was characterized by policy-makers" in the Bush administration.

Actually, I'm all for one; but I want to start with Frank Church and Jimmy Carter.

If we're going to investigate, let's investigate. But you can bet Hillary Clinton doesn't want this "witch hunt" to start one day before January 21, 2001.

And if you haven't seen it, go to CSPAN and watch the Kay hearing on the player. Man, Kay tore them up -- and it's not ANYTHING like the press has been reporting. He completely burned Kennedy and Levin.

It's 1942. We've just won the Battle of Midway. Who's calling for an investigation again?

All the liberal press can report is, "Kay says WMD's never existed" which is so incorrect. But it's the headline and soundbite they were faxed by the DNC to peddle.

Dang straight! It took about 25 years to desimate US intelligence, starting with those guys.

"WMD never existed."

That's what Isakoff was saying all over the media tonight (on with Dennis Miller, then on Laura Ingraham -- Laura slapped him around better than Dennis did, rebuking him for not being "objective," as he slobbered all over himself).

Then don't read the liberal press. Read fair and balanced -- and truthful -- papers like the Wash Times. Have you seen any other paper point out that Kay repeatedly shot down the Kennedy/Levin theory that Cheney was berating the poor CIA operatives to give him the intel he wanted? No. And Dennis Miller should have pointed that out when he had Isakoff on last night.
