It also would allow immigrants to collect Social Security benefits earlier than American workersWell --- yes they like to retire at a young age in Mexico -- and the American retirement age of course will have to rise considerably to accomodate them. Americans can just plan not to retire, the money is being given away.

Republican leaders see little chance of a significant grass-roots revolt over President Bush's immigration policy,If they don't 'see' soon enough they will be replaced. Either by democrats or a true conservative.

"Republican leaders see little chance of a significant grass-roots revolt over President Bush's immigration policy,"
Translation = Republican leaders are smugly confident that they can dictate any policy they like to the grassroots with impunity.
They are intent on following their own agenda without regard to the wishes of their constituent base.
This has been plainly stated in the past as "Where are they* going to go?".
* Gun owners
The county and state conventions have begun, I urge everyone who can to attend theirs, and insist on a party plank opposing the Bush amnesty!

But party leaders generally agreed with Mike Retzer, RNC treasurer and former Mississippi Republican chairman, that the president simply is seeking to do the right thing for immigrants eager to work in the United States.Funny, here some of us were expecting the President to "do the right thing "FOR HIS OWN COUNTRYMEN."

Republican leaders see little chance of a significant grass-roots revolt over President Bush's immigration policy
The Republican Leaders had better think again. I've never seen so much anger and it ain't goin away! If they want re-election, they'd better take a closer look. I meant what I said...I'll be checking the report card right up until I pull the levers, and I will NOT support anyone who supports this madness.
To: kattracks
"But even most of those folks are saying they'll vote for him."
How stupid do you have to be to pull the same lever and expect a different outcome.

Although these leaders generally like Mr. Bush's proposal and think it is fair-minded, some shared Mr. Norcross' doubts about whether it will provide the kind of payoff for the president, especially among the rapidly increasing Hispanic vote, for which Republican Party strategists had hoped.
Oh, but he's not pandering for votes. We should be grateful that he's bringing the discussion out in the open. He's only doing it because he knows it won't pass.
Did I leave any excuses out?

Ohio Republican Party Chairman Bob Bennett said the plan was, with few exceptions, well-regarded by grass-roots party members in his state.A flat out lie. I would bet Ohioans hate this plan.

"... it was the right thing to do, even though there is almost zero chance Congress will pass it in this election year," said David Norcross, chairman of the Republican National Convention in New York."
Only the moronic would support that. I sure hope it does NOT pass. It's a disastrous move.

Republican leaders see little chance of a significant grass-roots revolt over President Bush's immigration policy, but some wonder whether his proposal has any short-term benefits for him politically. Man, these people are complete, arrogant a$$*****, with their own set of agendas. One day, these two special interest, beltway cartels will no longer be in power.
Only then will this monster government be reduced, and the people elected to represent *us* will put America first, all the time, *every time*.
One term, then get the hell out, go home and get a job. Lets stop this endless line of lawyers making a careers out of running for public office. Let's send them all home with the lobbiest on a trailways bus. No first class airplanes, no limos, etc.
If we do not reduce the size of this government soon, it will incompass every aspect of our lives, if it hasen't already. It's time we all wake up to this.
Elections should he held quietly and people should go vote. Not now! TV channels are 24-7 covering these idiots mocking each other or every word, covering their every move, as they go from talk show to talk show like celebrities.
It's all turned into complete, utter BS. And some have been sucked up into it while performing cheerleading exercises for them as they go from TV show to TV show.
Government has gotten so big its covered on dozens of TV and Radio stations, 24 hours a day, with multiple talk shows dedicated to all this sh*t.
This is what happens when government grows into a titanic monster. This is what we get. It will get worse my friends, bet the rent. The socialist in DC have made a complete industry out of government politics.
Years ago you never saw this crap. You went to vote once or twice a year and that was it. Now? It's a 24-7 non stop, endless debate, political dog and pony show.
The government monster needs to be caged.

"Republican leaders see little chance of a significant grass-roots revolt over President Bush's immigration policy, but some wonder whether his proposal has any short-term benefits for him politically." ROFLOL, yeah, they are really on top of things. I'm sure they are telling themselves that the reason democrats would win if the election were held tomorrow is that they haven't moved far enough left.
Two globalist/socialists parties in the USofA is superfulous. One can get the job done of destroying the country without help from the liberal lite party.
