The Democrats of our parents generation no longer exist

backhoe said that just last night:

To: Howlin
I think I'll call Wesley Clark and offer him YOUR services in researching Bush's desertion...

Honestly, Howlin, I get so tired of this !#$%! nonsense... these braying jackasses can't find anything substantive, so they just toss the same old worn-out retreaded lies, spins, & slanders, hoping that some of the stench will rub off.

God, give me back the days when "democrat" mean men like Scoop Jackson or Hubert Humphrey.

Dude....don't get so hot and bothered! I asked, in general, why a person who is so against something would WANT to jump in the fray?

DU? Where in the name of Heavens did I say that? Methinks you're guilty or sumthin'!

And please, for YOUR sake, do NOT refer to ANY MAN as a Savior. Jesus Christ is the only Savior.

And now, I'm gonna make a run for the border. BRB

You think I am the only one to point out what is happening? How about Cal Thomas?

Cal's most recent article was indeed tremendous. Any conservative who doesn't hold Bush accountable for his socialism is irresponsible. However, I'm willing to wager Cal will be voting for him.

Yeah which is why I am saying you need to break the RP to fix it. You let them go down this road and they will never look back. As long as they can get elected by doing "x", expect them to keep doing "x". When they get their ass handed to them on a platter, then they will suddenly get introspective.

I view the losses from World War Two to have much more objective societal impact on the United States than those of the World Trade Center. Do you disagree?

I'll strongly disagree. The losses of WWII were expected losses in an open, ongoing, declared war. Those with family and friends in the military were braced for the possibility of casualties. The society knew that the war would involve casualties and handled as a known factor.

The losses of the Trade Center were a full sucker punch to the gut of the nation. Blue skies were changed suddenly into a conflagration of death, a scene seared into the society. No war, no warning - but the first attack on our territory, on our largest city, in modern history. That left all of us for the first time feeling vulnerable for own own safety, not a loved one in a war front across the ocean.

Why do you care about the farmers, but not about the AIDS? I have my suspicions, but you tell me why.

Personally -- and I feel the same about the issues as EEE -- it's about property rights. We are being deprived of rightfully-owned property as our tax money goes to fight AIDS in Africa, and Zimbabwean farmers are being deprived of rightfully-owned property as their farms are seized.

Bush would like to hide behind the WOT, but I don't think that Dem presidents will really do things much differently.

Really? Frenchie would still be running around frenching France to get permission to defend our country.

You also stated you believe the economy is more important than the WOT. Do you not understand our economy is exactly what the terrorist targeted? The Twin Towers were more than tall buildings. They were symbols of our capitalist society.

Just for the record:

1993 World Trade Center Bombing - "He[Clinton] also said he would implement a policy of "continued monitoring. ...Despite his rhetoric, Clinton made no changes in policy to prevent additional attacks"
June 25, 1996 Khobar Towers Bombing - "According to Johnson, early indications were that the explosive used in the bombing of the Khobar Towers came out of the Becca Valley in Lebanon. A year later, however, Clinton restored full diplomatic relations with Lebanon including lifting travel restrictions and trade restrictions, Johnson said, "without requiring them to locate, arrest, apprehend or compensate U.S. citizens. He just let it go."
August 7, 1998 Embassy Bombings- "On Aug. 20, 1998, Clinton ordered cruise missile attacks on suspected terrorist training camps in Afghanistan and a pharmaceutical plant in Khartoum, Sudan. ... Clinton was always good about biting his lip, tears welling up in his baggy eyes and talking about, 'We're waging a new war on terrorism,' and yet also during this period he basically cut the heart out of CIA," Johnson said."
October 12, 2000 USS Cole Bombing- "Clinton ordered U.S. Navy ships into the Yemeni region and directed ground forces to step up their security measures. "They spent a lot of money but it was always a symbolic gesture without the substantive approach," Johnson said "

Fair point, but they got their ass handed to them on a platter in '92, and how did they respond in the next election? Bob Dole.

So now you are not ABB? You appear to be confused.

No, you are. I said I will vote for the LP candidate. Knowing the LP candidate will not get elected, I hope ABB does. So if you are telling me am I joining the socialist, then no as I am not going to vote for any of the socialist parties in the race. But if I am going to have a socialist prez, I hope it is a socialist other than Bush.

Clear as mud?

Harry Browne bwaahhhhhhhhhhhh

Harry Browne lost the last of his credibility when he came out against any military response to terrorism after 9/11 and went further to ape the Lefty sentiment that we had to 'examine the reasons' for the attacks - i.e. it's all our own fault.

As opposed to, say, Pearl Harbor in WWII?

I asked him how long he's lived here and that's VALID!

I said that HE talks out of both sides of his mouth;not Canadians.

For someone who claims that he came onto this thread, at the suggestion of the LEAD MODERATOR, to make it more civil, you have done the exact opposite! All you have done, is to personally attack a select few, who hold other views than YOU do, totally ignored the topic of this thread, baited, and talked about yourself and your personal life.

You've wasted bandwidth, you've done, in spades, what you accuse others of having done( which they haven't ), lied repeatedly, and tried to turn this much needed thread into a flames war. Go to bed...............you are doing nothing here, other than proving your worthlessness.

Oh....name them.

The Progressive Conservative party in Canada. Not even having "conservative" in their name could help them.

Giving those Rhodesian farmers U.S. citizenship - something I support - wouldn't cost us a dime. Fighting AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa not only has a $15 billion pricetag associated with it, but it's bound to fail. (And if history is any indication, most of the money will find its way into the deep pockets of the continent's dictators anyway).
