It struck me this evening, listening to the collective victim's whine over lost jobs- how the Dems had no suggestions or references to flexibility, retraining, new technologies, American ingenuity, etc.
Despite the lost textile and steel jobs, SC (and much of the South) is experiencing alot of growth. Greenville has grown so much there are 2 new hospital complexes being built (one is a $100 million 10 year project).
There is new work generated by imports- where I work we embroider and screenprint many garments made in Pakistan and Bangladesh. The low import price allows us to decorate the garments and resell and remain competitive.
