Interesting...but not really surprising...

I note the presence of George Galloway on the list. This was previously reported in the Daily Telegraph; he is not only a member of the Labour Party, but is actually a Member of Parliament. There have been some calls for him to be tried for treason.

Since the deposed regime endorsed the 'Memorandum of Understanding,' also known as 'oil for food [program],' it turned it into a despicable political and commercial game, and used it to finance its clandestine acquisitions of arms, expensive construction materials for the presidential palaces and mosques, and frivolous luxury items. It turned the oil sales agreements into the greatest bribery operation in history, buying souls and pens, and squandering the nation's resources

And Kerry longs to defer and submit to the will and wisdom of the UN.

World court trials.

This is the biggest scandal in years, world wide.

This is so big, it boggles the mind.

Ofcouse the media portrays Saddamn as this senile old man writing his little tome. If there is ever the evidence of the link between the lefties and terrorists (Palies) this is it. Yet when everything comes out, Iraq will turn out to be the money bags for a large portion of the evil ones in the world. Commies and Socialists all over the world. amazing.

And they had 8 years of evil dums in the WH to protect their evil plans. This makes me sick.

A rough count of the list gives about 115 recipients of Saddam's largesse. I wonder who the rest of the 270 are?

I see a smoking gun here. Abu Al-Abbas and the Palistinian Liberation Front is a terrorist.

Certianly not surprizing, but it is a smoking gun of Saddams support of terrorism.

Speaking of treason, where is Bill Clinton's name on this list? This payoff device so perfectly fits with Willie's MO, and his ethics that he has to have been a beneficiary under some name. This also fits with why Vince Foster made all those secret trips to Switzerland and provides a motive for Foster's murder and the subsquent cover up.

The Chinese really couldn't have given Willie that much cash. But, vouchers for several million barrels of oil to some entity owned completely by Willie and a few key henchpersons (it would also explain Suzie's strange silence and Jim's murder) would answer a lot of questions about Willie's filth and corruption.

The original negotiation between Saddam's man and Willie's man might have taken place at some world conference or during one of the big bucks Chelsea vacation trips. After that, Vince picks up a vouher/envelop in Bern, sells it in Amsterdam, takes the suitcase of cash back to Geneva for deposit. It would be so easy and for Willie, corrupt enough. In fact, some of the oil on the Russian list might well have been for Willie's account.

This story is absolute dynamite, and it puts the lie to the socialists' endless howling about "an imperial war for oil."

They were the ones who were bought off by a despotic, fascist dictatorship.

Under "Switzerland" there is a company called Glenco Re. It is referred to as "the largest commodity trader in Switzerland", and received credit for 12 million barrels. I believe the name of the company is a typographical error and should really be Glencore. Glencore is Marc Rich, a convicted felon who was pardoned by a recent president.

BTTT. MEMRIes, light the corners of my mind.

My charitable contributions for the year went to MEMRI to aid in the translation of Arabic to English and twelve other languages. I'm glad to see they're making good use of it!

Humanitarian flight lands in Iraq as Ramadan gets under way

AMMAN — A Boeing 737 carrying 160 Jordanian passengers left for Baghdad on Monday — becoming the eighth such Jordanian flight in two months.

The plane was carrying passengers representing various political parties, professional associations, sports clubs and a delegation from the National Jordanian Committee for the Defence of Iraq, the organisers of the trip.

The trip aims to defy the embargo and demonstrate Jordanian solidarity with the people of sanctions-hit Iraq, Fawaz Zreiqat of the national committee told the Jordan Times.

"This flight is a continuation of the Jordanian stance with Iraq," he said.

"A great number of people wanted to participate in the initiative but the passenger capacity of the plane [could not accommodate everyone] and so we had to apologise to a large number of people," he added.

In his Speech from the Throne to the 4th ordinary session of the 13th Parliament, His Majesty King Abdullah said the government would "exert its efforts" to put an end to Iraqi suffering in cooperation with Arab countries and the international community.

"We reiterate our commitment to the unity and territorial integrity of Iraq," he said.

"The delegations will hold different activities with our Iraqi brethren and we will hold several political, sports meetings," said Zreiqat.

Despite dozens of French, Russian and Arab flights to Iraq, the decade-old embargo imposed on Iraq in retaliation for its invasion and occupation of Kuwait in 1990 remains in place.

The second Jordanian plane to break the embargo was the plane carrying Prime Minister Ali Abul Ragheb on November 1. Abul Ragheb became the first Arab prime minister to visit Iraq since sanctions were imposed.

Finar Holdings

Help! I need a organic chemist. There is an I.L. Finar who publishes texts on Organic Chemistry, including references to alkaloids, atropine, and bio-molecules. Ring any bells?

If there's a good organo-chemist in the house, chase down this fellow, his companies, and specialties. It would be interesting if he has WMD experience.

Willie: You're the engineer, if recollection serves. If you have spotted any chem guys around here, please pass it on.

Quid Pro Quo: Salvatore Nicotra

(ZNAP: Sicily) Soon the students in the small Sicilian town of Santa Maria di Licodia will be attending shows at Don Bosco School's new "Saddam Hussein Auditorium''. The gift was made by a group promoting ties between Italy and Iraq. Saddam's name will be on the 500-seat auditorium when it opens in April.

The founder of the group, Salvatore Nicotra, described it as an offer the Sicilian officials couldn't refuse. Nicotra travels regularly to Iraq on business and wishes to raise awareness of what he considers the unjust U.N. sanctions forced upon the people of Iraq. Italy, France, and Russia are among the nations taking part in the international effort.

Angered by the Italian government's acceptance of this gift, a group of Assyrian activists led by Mary Younan of Canada have begun circulating a letter of protest. The introduction reads: "We would like to express our concern and deception with the Sicilian officials regarding the new auditorium inauguration. The world has witnessed atrocities committed by Saddam Hussein and his Ba'ath government on the Iraqi population. We must not forget the Government of Iraq has violated provisions of international law including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), to which Iraq is a party, and also violates Iraq's interim Constitution. The sanctions imposed on Iraqi people are very sad, and Saddam Hussein must not be considered as a heroic persona."

According to Rome's La Repubblica daily newspaper, in response to the gift, the school's 350 students are now learning about Babylonian history. "By now, they'll know the Tigris and Euphrates better than the Po and the Tiber,'' the newspaper predicted.

You could be right, but many Swiss companies are named "____ Re."

The "Re" stands for "Re-insurance."

Quid Pro Quo: Myanmar Forestry Minister

Myanmar delegation in Iraq to discuss trade

AP Worldstream

February 10, 2002

A Myanmar government delegation is in Iraq to explore trade opportunities between the two countries, a foreign ministry official said Sunday.

The 11-member delegation led by Forestry Minister Aung Phone went to Iraq on Saturday.

"Myanmar can sell a wide range of its products such as beans, pulses and rice to Iraq," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The presence of a deputy minister for energy in the delegation appeared to indicate that Myanmar was interested in negotiating a countertrade deal for Iraqi crude oil.

A Yangon-based diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity, noted that Iraq has a shortage of food and Myanmar needs crude oil, which can be obtained from Iraq under the U.N.'s oil-for-food program.

The oil-for-food program was created in 1996 to ease the suffering of 22 million Iraqis living under sanctions imposed after Iraq's 1990 invasion of Kuwait, which led to the Gulf war. Under the program, Iraq is allowed to sell unlimited amounts of oil to buy food, medicine and other humanitarian supplies, and to pay war reparations.

Other members of the Myanmar delegation include its ambassador to Egypt and embassy staff, agricultural officials, members of the Myanmar Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a member of the Myanmar Pulses, Beans and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association.

Myanmar, also known as Burma, is forced to import oil because of a decline of domestic production and an increase in energy consumption. At the same time, its struggling economy leaves it with modest reserves of foreign exchange, making countertrade deals attractive.

According to the records of the Central Statistical Organization, Myanmar produces 11,000 barrels of crude oil per day, down from 32, barrels per day in 1979.

The most recent available official figures show that Myanmar imported dlrs 209.8 million worth of crude oil from January to October 2001. Myanmar usually imports crude oil from Malaysia, Singapore and Korea.

Myanmar to some extent shares Iraq's status as a pariah state in the world community, because of Western disapproval of its military government, which has a history of human rights abuses and refuses to turn over power to a democratically-elected government.

However, the sanctions against Myanmar are much more limited in scope than those against Iraq, the most important ones involving the blockage of aid from international development institutions.
