I read the NEA thing. Money wise, it's not much at all. It's still being funded way less than it was during Clinton's term. Yes, it's unconstitutional...
anyways, for me it's all about the terrorist threat and the Supreme Court.

I guess it depends on what 'big picture' means.

I agree with you completely, votelife. We are about 2 1/2 years beyond 9/11 and the anthrax attacks. There hasn't been another attack on our soil. Memories are short. The economy is picking up. Life and business are returning close to go-go '90's levels. So it's way, way too easy for some folks to slip back into the political pettiness that marked the '90's across the political spectrum.
The thing is, we can't know when the terrorists will attempt to strike next. Here at home, on a variety of issues from gay "marriage," to human cloning, to Roe v. Wade, to the 2nd Amendment, conservatives can't hope to make any substantive progress unless the Supreme Court gets off its centrist dime.

I believe the Rove goal is beyond the mere winning in 2004. The goal is the permanent crippling of the Democrat Party.
That is exactly what Bush did to the Dems in Texas.

Dubya will get re-elected or not regardless of what the readers of this article will do. Nothing to get excited about. Judiciary at all levels and in most states is the only branch of the government that the CPUSA, in its various disguises, has a lock on, and CPUSA is not going to let go. There isn't a chance in hell that Bush II can succeed in appointing a conservative like Scalia or Thomas to SCOTUS.
You couldn't be more wrong if you were intentionally trying to be. After what happended to the Dems in the 2002 senate races, just one high profile win for the Repub's in a the Senate and the blockade folds like a dirty shirt. The Senate Repubs were vulnerable in 2002 and carried the day. The Dems are vulnerable in 2004 and 2006. If they lose on judges in 2004 they won't risk it for 2006. The GOP should pull out whatever stops necessary to get a Thune victory over Daschle. Right now Schumer is vulnerable in New York also, I'm just not sure of who the right person to take him on is. Boxer is vulnerable also, and wouldn't that scare the pants of the Dems if she lost?

Yep, I'm wrong! Evidence? Miguel Estrada! (Among others.)
No explanations, no excuses, no predictions of Babs Boxer losing (that one's a hoot - an incumbent RAT Senator losing!)

Can you tell us any more about what's in your glass ball or are you just continuing to hope? Well, I gave up hope on our President quite a while ago. He's confirming I made the correct decision with just about every move he makes.
I'm curious what is your reaction to Libya giving up it's WMD's and elections in Jordan, Saudia Arabia and Afghanistan?

if the GOP picks up 3 or 4 seats esp on the judge issue, than a lot of Dems up in 06 will let Bush get his judges so they keep their seats.

I also forgot, that he promised to "faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." in his inauguration speach.
He has not done this, just like the majority of the others in all three branches.
"conservative judges"
He has not delivered on this, only nominations but no defending them.

Support Perot-like candidates. That got us 8 years of Clinton. I suppose it had nothing to do with George "Read my lips" Bush or Bob "Wait till my Viagra kicks in!" Dull?

Actually, I think 2 seats will do it if one of them is Daschle.

I did not especially care for Bush 1 or Dole. But look at the vote totals, and who voted for Perot. More would have voted for R than D. Clinton never had over 50%.

Yes, I know.... I was trying to get the poster to list the Clinton appointees he seemed to indicate that Clinton made... Gregory was recess appointed in Dec. 2000 just before President Bush took office in Jan. 2001.
