MSNBC's Keith Olbermann on Wednesday night delivered a snotty take on CIA weapons inspector David Kay's conclusion that there are no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, as if the war could not be justified on any other grounds. On his Countdown show, Olbermann rued how "no WMD does not mean no destruction. Ask the 500 American service personnel dead in Iraq or the wife of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson."
At the top of his January 28 show, the MRC's Brad Wilmouth noticed, Olbermann asserted:
"Good evening. Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. Nothing newer than 1991 at worst. But no WMD does not mean no destruction. Ask the 500 American service personnel dead in Iraq or the wife of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson or whoever is going to end up at the wrong end of the inevitable Washington game of 'pin the tail on the scapegoat.' Our fifth story on the Countdown tonight, chief U.S. weapons investigator, Dr. David Kay, testifies to the Senate. His message today: Though U.S. intelligence agencies misjudged the threat posed by Saddam, Saddam Hussein was still worth deposing. Rather than summarize Dr. Kay's testimony, we're going to give you highlights of it, about two-and-a-half minutes worth."

My email to countdown@MSNBC.com
So the 500 American soldiers who have died wasnt worth anything because we cant locate WMD? The WMD that WAS there. Ask Bill Clinton, Kennedy, Kerry, Hillary Clinton and hundreds of other "prominent" people. I for one have a very optimistic view about Iraq now and for freedom to spread in the region.
500 lives lost is tragic, but if you are any kind of "good" liberal, the millions of lives Saddam killed should effect you more (arent you supposed to care about human rights?). But it doesnt meet the ends of your favorite democrat candidate making it to the white house.
The story is simple; We didnt know where, when or how he disposed of the weapons that everyone agreed he had. He wouldnt tell the UN so we attacked according to the UN resolution. So why is it so hard for you and every other sorry excuse for a journalist to see this?
Typical for leftists like you. Either go back to sports or just go away.

Olbermann was a joke as a local sportscaster here in L.A. Why any network would take him seriously as a pundit is beyond me.

still worth deposing?
Each year American households spend about 1% of their income on alcoholic beverages and another 1% on tobacco products. We spend about 0.7% of our money on cosmetic products. In other words, our combined operations to combat terror in the Middle East cost a bit more than we spend on makeup and shampoo and a bit less than we spend on booze or tobacco. Cutting and running from Iraq would embolden our enemies and risk untold loss of life and damage to our economy, costing far, far more than what we now spend on cigarettes or shampoo.
(great analysis in USAToday back on 9/21/2003. Tell that to the next liberal that poses the same redundant rhetoric.)

Don't worry -- either Keith will end up quitting his job soon, or MSNBS will fire him. He is notorious for not staying at a job for very long. When he left ESPN, the longest he held a job, a fellow employee said that he didn't just burn bridges there; he napalmed them!

Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. Excuse me, but I don't think this was David Kay's conclusion. I know it is a leftist wish. Everyone KNEW that Saddam had WMD -- the French, the Russians, the Germans, the UN, and the US. We haven't found them. There are three possibilities: Saddam either hid them very well (in which case I hope we find them on the last weekend before the election -- that would serve the Democrats about right); he transported them Syria and Iran; and/or he did destroy a lot of them, but gave sufficient weapons materials to terrorist groups.

Olberman was a Peter Principle example when he was a sports reporter. Now that he's moved up the food chain, this fact should be obvious to all.

Olbermann specializes in being snotty. That's all he does.

Saddam was a human WMD. Furthermore, you can hide WMD's in a duffel bag. I think some visualize WMD's of much greater size then they really are.
Also remember Albright, herself, is on record as saying Saddam had WMD's. If our intelligence screwed up, then they were also screwed up through Clinton's presidency. Could it be the lack of foot intelligence and too much placed on satellite imaging?
