As a citizen of the People's Republic of Massachusetts, I'm here to say that John Kerry has a snowball's chance in hell, once the rest of the nation learns: - He married a rich wife, divorced her, and married a richer wife.
- Between wives he was a playboy and dated Hollywood starlets.
- In the 80s he voted down the development of almost every weapons system that won us wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- He also was in favor of a "nuclear freeze" in '84, and of course if he had his way we'd still have commies running half the earth.
- He was Mike Dukakis' Lt. Gov.
- He had a fire hydrant moved from the front of his wife's Beacon Hill (Boston) mansion in order for them to have an extra parking space.
- He is famous for his arrogance and the phrase "do you know who I am?"
- He came back from Vietnam and hooked up with the Fonda group, and proceded not only to protest the war but to smear his fellow soldiers with lies about phony atrocities.
- He threw his war medals over the White House fence to protest of the war....oh wait a minute..they were some other guy's medals. He now displays his own medals on his office wall.
- His voting record is more liberal than Ted K's.
- He's had more botox injected into him than Liz Taylor.
- We call him "Liveshot" around here cuz he's never met a TV camera that he didn't force his face in front of.

I'm not as certain as you are. My evaluation is that, much like the Clintons, he can be arrogantly psychopathic, and he's a little bit nuts. However, those traits don't make a difference today. They are characteristics of recent generations and those generations perceive and support their own clan.

I hope you're right. But my fear is, given the (apparent) state of the electorate in terms of intellect, values, morality, and just plain laziness, it may not matter much. The election may come down to which candidate promises more in terms of material rewards, i.e., free money from da gummint. And Rats have it all over Republicans on that score.

Between wives he was a playboy and dated Hollywood starlets.

Sadly, it seems that such promiscuity may actually make Ketchup Boy more popular with a good chunk of the electorate. Remember when Clinton's philandering became public knowledge the mantra was "character doesn't matter", and "hey, he's a playah, he's my man!". Evidently a lot of people think its cool to be a bed-hopping scumbag.
