You asked about the Democrat Reno's prior life of a SA:
She was a prosecutor in then Dade (now Miami-Dade to satisfy the ego of Democrat Alex Pinelas who was upset nobody knew Dade county. An insult to the late Col. Dade.)
During her tenure, scandles dominated the police department and jeopardized their cases. She left the office one big mess.
One should also keep in mind that prosecutors are not like TV prosecutors. Once a case is filed, prosecutor are very limited in their options. (if a DUI case is obviously flawed an should be dropped, the hapless prosecutor can do much. They can plea it for minimums or try it, to even consider dropping it requires extensive memos and the approval of supervisors. This is all circuits)
Many jobs are crony jobs. Since the prosecutor is an elected position, the Assitant SA jobs are dependant on the SA keeping his job. No matter how you slice it, it is a government job.
Don't even start on the near sleazy fundraising tactics of courthouse public service.
