There comes a time when one must take a stand or surrender one's principles. How is it that a conservative can rationalize a "win" from the forfeiture of so many traditional ideals?

I must apologize for my poor wording, as I am voting on principles too. I guess the difference is in what principles we deem important. My 'traditional ideals' are God, family, country, moral decency etc....to some others it seems to be guns, money, individual rights etc.

We don't agree and never will as I am not an issue voter.

I'm a true conservative. If you don't agree with me on everything, you must be a bleeding- heart liberal.

Ah, so it comes down to guns or gays... :-(

in the real world, you have two choices: Republican or Democrat.

No, I also have the choices of any other candidate who is on the ballot or qualifies as a write-in. As I said elsewhere: If I thought there was any chance the margin of victory would be one vote, I'd vote for the least liberal of the two leading candidates. Since I know that won't be the case, I use my vote to send a conservative message.

We're going to have to live with one of those two parties in control of our legislature and executive branches. Republicans, for all the warts you might see on them, are far superior to the deep down dysfunctional Democrats.

Superior, yes. "Far" superior? Less clear. And you overlook the question: how can I increase their degree of superiority to the Rats?

What a waste of a vote. Pat yourself on the back if and when the Democrat Party Operatives again are the majority in this country.

They would be no less the majority if my one vote had gone for the GOP.

You send < B> NO </B> message, of any kind, by voting for a fringe candidate.

So you claim. Have any proof?

Is it the proper business of government to impose moral decency?

Someone who thinks of his vote as meaningless as you apparently do must have a real lack of self respect.

I've noted that people with such a lack of respect for their actions and themselves often try to get in the last word. So you can salve your ego, I'll let you go ahead and get in one final (in my opinion worthless) remark about how you cannot make a difference with your vote, or whatever other inanity you want to post. I won't respond, and you can soothe yourself with the delusion that you really "got me good."

So go ahead, Winston: make yourself feel better and get the last word in. Just don't complain when the Democrats control all aspects of our federal government.

Straw man. My vote has the value of sending a message.

must have a real lack of self respect. [...]

Your retreat into psychobabble rather than responding to my argument is duly noted.
