Heard that about the 80s.....but it would seem then that the logical place to check would have been Niger after all. All those who thought the very idea was a joke won't even admit they were misguided. Be nice if Bush came out fighting the way Blair does. But then he wouldn't be Dubya. I just hope he realizes this is WAR.......them against us and the peace loving world.

I blame the media for allowing the dems to direct the reporting.

Tenet said himself that Joe Wilson stated he was approached in 2001 by Iraqi agents about opening trade with Niger. Wilson assumed they were after uranium since the other export is some agricultural product that escapes my mind at the moment. Joe Wilson leaves this salient fact out of his current day rantings, and any journalist worth his salt would bring it up every time Wilson acts like the idea was absurd.

George Tenet said this in his statement of July.

And while we're on the subject, my pet theory is the yellowcake/SOTU speech and the sexed up document/Blair attack were simultaneously launched to bring down Blair and Bush.

To wit: Both allegations were made and calls for Blair to resign and over here the word impeachment was immediately floated.

Before Joe Wilson wrote his NY Times op-ed revealing his Niger tea-sipping visit, there were articles in the BBC (coincidence?) citing an anonymous "CIA Official" telling their reporter that Bush was wrong on Iraq/uranium and this "official" said this was known because a former diplomat had proven it! That is a flat out lie and no real "CIA Official" with America's best interests at heart would be telling a foreign journalist such misrepresentations of the facts.

At that same time we had the Gilligan pieces rolling out about the sexed up document, but that got boluxed up when their government actually took umbrage at lies being published and the subsequent hearings leading up to today's events.

I really think the two episodes are interwined.
