Kay keeps saying "personal judgment," and Levin is NOT happy with that answer.

Levin wants to hear from the VP
in writing!
Clearly trying to paint Cheney as deceitful in comments he made "one week ago" as Levin keeps saying with great meaning in his tone.
Levin final question: Is it your judgement the alum tubes Iraq was trying to acquire for enriching uranium.
Kay: falls into area where the investigation needs to continue. His judgement is they were probably for conventional missile program (Well, then that's OK!), not nuclear. But it is still an open question.

Hey Carl - remember this??
"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandated of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them." Sen. Carl Levin, D-MI. Sept. 19, 2002.

(We did not have to prove Saddam had WMD, he had to prove he didn't.)

From BBCNews.com (A href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/3434661.stm">http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/3434661.stm:
BBC chairman to quit over Hutton BBC chairman Gavyn Davies is to resign in the wake of Lord Hutton's criticisms of the corporation's reports.
BBC political editor Andrew Marr said Mr Davies would soon be telling the corporation's governors of his decision.
It comes after Lord Hutton said the claim in BBC reports that the government "sexed up" its dossier on Iraq's weapons was "unfounded".

Levin would probably think Hitler had showers for the Jews unless someone saw them die.
To: TomGuy
Levin's not getting the 'right' answers from Kay, so now he wants to hear from the VP. Levin KNEW that Kay couldn't speak for Cheney
There was a reason for Levin's whine

McCain up:
Thanks Kay for his service.
Brings up the overwhelming beliefs of Kay, our intelligence, other intelligence agencies and the Clinton administration.
ahem
McCain listing Husseins previously known and established pattern of behavior and weapons possession.
To: Howlin
McCain doing a good job. A great job.
The leftists would prefer that we wait until countries have WMD before we decide they are a threat and try to take them out.

Kay seems to feel that not finding the weapons is a personal failure. It's not personal at all but he, like O'Neil just doesn't get that it's not about him!
Upon close questioning his intellectual side trumps the personal 'failure' he seems to believe.

Levin asking why Cheney is still saying those vans are "conclusive evidence" that there were WMD?
Because it's undebatable there were WMD's (and there may still be). Saddam used them. Tell it to the Kurds and the Iranians that they never existed.
To: Wright is right!
Not surprised, I'm transcribing what's going on.
Exclamation points underscore the point.

My argument would be look at how hard it is to find solid intelligence when you put restrictions and cut back on resources. Pres Bush was forced into a corner after 9/11. Had nothing been done and 2-3 years down the road, and another terrorist attack would occur this time will wmd's, every dem would be screaming from the mountain top about he knew and failed to prevent it.
