KEWL STUFF! CHECK IT OUT...
Philips Electronics to produce roll up display screen.
Dutch firm Philips Electronics said on January 26, 2004 it was preparing to mass-produce a slim, book-sized display panel onto which consumers could download newspapers and magazines -- then roll up and put away. The 5-inch display, which can show detailed images, can be rolled up into a pen-sized holder. If connected to a mobile phone, it can also be used to download web pages, a book or email. Examples of the display are shown. (Philips via Reuters)

All you need is FR for news. Everything else is just a slower and flowery alternative with popups and liberal bias.

If it contains Aloe, has ribs and is disposable, I'll buy a few rolls.

It's about time. This has been out for 5 or 6 years, but collapsing tech companies got in the way of production.

Now, if they could only do something about a unit lifespan that is currently measured in
months! Probably just part of normal R&D and it is better than the previous lifespan that was measured in hours.

Actually, if it's reasonably priced, I like the idea!
Maybe I'm old fashion, but I hate reading large amount of text off a computer screen and will often print out long articles to read. Of course this really wastes the paper, and toner.

This stuff reminds me of that movie "Minority Report" (Bad movie, cool premise). In it, the newspapers and magazines that people read had animated/changing content that continuously updated itself.
I thought it was a pretty neat concept. Maybe it's closer to reality than you think.
Here comes the science!

"Mr. Marks, by mandate of the District of Columbia Precrime Division, I'm placing you under arrest for the future murder of Sarah Marks and Donald Dubin that was to take place today, April 22 at 0800 hours and four minutes."
Ditto. Excellent premise by Phil Dick and a terribly scripted drek of a film by Spielberg.

Doesn't matter, Phillips can't market in the US worth a d*mn. This will be picked up by Panasonic or Sony then sold in the US.
